Shell River W I holds November meeting and plans charity
The Shell River Woman’s Institute held its regular and annual meeting on Wednesday November 21 at 2 pm. Members voted to bring jam or jelly for the hospital at December’s meeting and to pack Christmas baskets for district senior citizens. Officers elected include President Mrs L Andrews Vice President Mrs Fowler Secretary-Treasurer Mrs Payne Hospital Aid Rep Mrs L Andrews Sick Visiting Com Mrs Fowler Press Reporter Mrs W Angus and Program Convenor for 1958 Mrs A Lunan Rest Room Rep Mrs Lunan. The next meeting will be December 19 at 2 pm at Mrs Fowler’s home, a Christmas meeting with gift exchanges. Also noted are congratulations to Mr and Mrs George Pierton on the birth of a son.

Obituary for August Emil Otke in Winnipeg
Funeral services for August Emil Otke were held Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. He died November 14 after a short illness, aged. Born in Poland in 1903, he married Lydia Betker, worked as a carpenter, moved to Canada in 1910, settled in Winnipeg, then Roblin district in 1919, retiring in 194. Pallbearers were his sons Julius, A Frederick, Albert, Ed Ward, and Paul and Arthur Ross. Interment at Brookside Cemetery.
