Roblin School Notes and Comment on Student Concerts

During the fall term the Literary Societies of Roblin School held concerts on alternate Fridays after 3 p.m. The events provide student training and offer town residents a chance to hear varied programs. On Friday December 16 an all pupil concert from grades 4 to 12 will feature strong numbers, with proceeds to fund society expenses and future plans.

A wedding took place Tuesday November 33 at Roblin uniting Stanley McMaster and Pearl B Ward. The couple will live on the groom's farm north of town. The Review extends congratulations to the newlyweds. A ratepayers meeting for Goose Lake Consolidated School met Friday with low attendance. Mrs J Yea chaired. Rev Harvey secretary. I L Mitchell read the audit and statements. Ward 8 trustee candidate Mr Barber spoke. the high school literary society performed. An evening at Mrs Roy Kelly’s featured a women’s institute event with a Kinship program and social activities. Upcoming United Farm Women meetings listed for Silverwood and Tamme! Mongay with speakers J W Robson and Mrs R J Wallace addressing farm organization and the Manitoba and Saskatchewan branches. Mr Robson noted the 88,000-member federation. Mrs Wallace urged local participation.

Miss Elsie Nelson and Pisovets hosted a supper at Davis Hall on Phvenidig the 19th vet. The concert was poorly advertised but expected to draw a strong crowd with better promotion.

Sympathies and notes from a rural community

Our sympathy goes out to Mr and Mrs Staub on the death of their darling Stanley Boyce who was married last week to Miss Violet Rogers has rented Mr A Aders farm. Stak and his bride are expected home most week from their honeymoon trip. The Curling Club has been fixed. A Aders, Hon Pres J H Cameron Pres, W Cobb Sec Treas, 18 links to start with curling, will start by the time this item appears. Our sympathy extends to our teacher Miss Deacor on the death of her aunt and we hope for the quick return to obramides of some popular teacher. A number of ratepayers from this point attended the nomination meeting at Roblin all returning the same as they went away but the time spent between going and coming is better left unsaid. What is wrong with our Cases opening up the gravel pits and placing some gravel on the roads and thus giving those ratepayers that want to work something to do and plan give our roads a boost. Wake up rate payers unless we ask for these tiig we will not get them. There was a large crowd at the annual concert and presentation of prizes to the school children last Friday. A word might be said of the report given by one of the members who attended the Swine Club at Winnipeg Herbert Clear who gave a very clear account of his trio.
