On Thursday November 4 a total of 855 head of livestock sold at the auction ring. The mix included 653 cattle 27 sows 5 boars 166 weanling and feeder pigs and 4 horses. Prices ranged from 5 to 12 dollars for weanling pigs 25 to 55 dollars for bred sows 7 to 8 cents for boars and 5 to 7 cents for horses.
The first Roblin Brownie Pack and the Second Roblin Pack began in October led by Mrs. Janice Bates Mrs. Donalda Andres and Mrs. Margaret Wilson. About forty girls aged 7 to 10 registered and will pursue the Brownie Promise Law and Motto. The Kinette Club sponsors donate a Brownie Toadstool and Dauphin commissioners explained duties and presented the toadstool.

The Meat Packers Council of Canada notes U S red meat imports for January to August 1971 fell to 1 143 million pounds from 1 223 million the year before Beef and veal imports dropped 61 million pounds to 829 million over eight months Australia and New Zealand supplied 441 million pounds of beef and veal about half the total Pork imports reached 249 million pounds with Denmark supplying about one third Netherlands and Canada followed as leading pork suppliers Cold storage of four red meats stood at 96 3 million pounds on October 1 unchanged from a year earlier Pork stocks were roughly double last year Beef stocks totaled 34 6 million pounds or 14 percent lower than last year The note clarifies red meats include pork beef veal mutton lamb and fancy meats The Farm Mechanics and Welding Courses section reports minor interest from callers and requests community farmers advise if they wish to pursue future skilled courses.

At the Roblin Masonic Lodge meeting on November 3 1971 W Bro Alvin T Kines received a Fifty Year Jewel for fifty years in Masonry as a member of Roblin Lodge No 122 He is the first member to receive this honor since joining in May 1921 and serving as Master in 1930 The presentation was by DDGM Hornbecker of Swan River and the Brethren offered congratulations
The Regional Library book depot in Roblin has operated two months with strong demand. Opening day left 350 books, followed by 150 more. last week 100 books were exchanged. Books are packed in units of fifty, about 30 children’s titles and 20 adults per unit. adult demand exceeds supply and aiming to raise adult titles to thirty per unit. The library runs Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday evenings, but from this Saturday will shift to afternoon hours for three open days per week.

The Roblin Community Choir, sponsored by Roblin group and directed by Mrs. Rhoda Sanderson, holds rehearsals toward a late month concert. The choir, originally from Russell and district, performed for Manitoba Centenary last year and will also prepare for Christmas Carol Festival and Remembrance Day services.
