Roblin and district surpass the Fifth Victory Loan quota of 106000 with subscriptions totaling 107900 from 614 contributors. Final tallies from outlying points and a full district list will appear next week. The campaign team credits salesmen and supporters for their help.
Nominations day passed for the Councils of Rural Municipalities of Shell River and Hillsburg and for the Village of Roblin and Goose Lake Consolidated School District. All candidates were elected by acclamation, with multiple wards and positions listed for Roblin and Goose Lake districts.
In observance of Education Week the local school invites parents and others to visit the school Friday afternoon Nov. 12. Grade XII will be taking their November examinations while other classrooms will run the usual program open to the public. Come see the youngsters at work and meet the teachers. My principles event so high said a school boy that cant live up to them.
Community notices list residents returning from Winnipeg Regina and other towns including Mr and Mrs S A Tripp Mr Gleish Mrs R C Low Mrs H H Lee and Mr Evans. Also Ev en Evelyn Enge HW Camp Shilo and Remembrance Day events and education activities in Togo. A new minister Mr Anderson and family arrive with welcome.
Makaroff hosts a Junior AMLE.A. social in Mekaroff hall on November 12. Mrs. Joyner of Winnipeg visits her sister-in-law, Mars A. Boyce. Total proceeds of the Mk for Britain drive on Halloween reach notable levels.
Mrs W Thompson traveled to Winnipeg Saturday night while Mrs H Black and Helen visited Mr and Mrs C Robinson at Makaroff. Mr and Mrs McDuffe and Ruth visited Mrs McDuffe's mother at Kamsack on Sunday. A fowl supper fundraiser thanked contributors including Mrs Conly chairwoman Mrs A T Kines organist the Misses Harvey Clokie Gardner Mr Karr and Jack Baptiste.
John Wysochenko travels to Winnipeg Saturday while Miss Vivian Argent visits Dauphin. The Beattie family from Makaroft visits the Boyce home. Walter Ward is building a new house. Mrs Ward returns from medical care in Dauphin. Brig Ward ill at home. Walter Ward urged to hurry. Ministers expected next Sunday at 17 o clock. T Roberts and Corwena drive to Dauphin. Gardner couple return home. Gwyneth Boyce returns to Vancouver after three months with her parents.
Shortdale residents report Mike Geryluk’s 1937 model car purchase. Mr and Mrs Russell Perchal, Annie, and others return from Winnipeg. Philip Paczkowski is admitted to Dauphin hospital in serious condition. A Nov 1 highway crash near Gilbert Plains injured Mrs Balewich and others as their car slid and was struck by a truck.
At Mrs. Nick Pawlek’s home women discussed raising funds and sending parcels overseas. A Zelena farmers meeting addressed hog feeding amid rising feed prices. Jos S Haluschuk thanks supporters for the Fifth Victory Loan drive. Mike Korman notes his brother Steve, an Africa veteran, is back on leave. Local salesmen found a warm reception in the homes of Hawrychuk Nykolaishyn and Starchuk during late night calls. Canada values such spirited citizens.
Four people sustained injuries with fractures after a mishap. Mr Balewich suffered a fractured leg while Mrs P Garyluk has fractures to both legs. All are hospitalized in Dauphin hospital and a speedy recovery is wished.
