Memorial Hall Fund Seeks Help for Roblin Project

The Need Is Great memorial drive urges donations deductible for income tax at the Royal Bank. A memorial hall to honor fallen soldiers is under frame and stucco construction 100 by 50 feet with basement and balcony. Total completed value will exceed 20000 dollars with $15000 spent so far on lumber wages materials and services.

Roblin Local Poultry Co op Elects Officers at Annual Meeting

The Roblin Local Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Co op annual meeting was held Saturday. Gordon Staple was elected Chairman, Ed Jakeman Vice-Chairman and Mrs H R Mitchell Secretary. Directors include Mrs A Kroll, Mrs H R Mitchell, Mrs J Martin, Steve Philiphew, Ed Jakeman and R Arnott. Mrs W Arnott chosen to represent the local at Winnipeg with Steve Philiphew as alternate. District Director C A McLean of Grandview addressed the meeting.

Roblin Ukrainian Women’s Association Bazaar Supports Greek Church

The Roblin branch under Mrs J Haravitch held a bazaar tea and sale of home cooking in the Anglican church hall on Saturday. Proceeds reached 125 dollars to fund plans for a Greek Orthodox church in Roblin in the near future.

Harry Brydon Goes Overseas Visit Before Korea

Harry B Brydon of Roblin and Flin Flon has finished training at Wainwright Alberta and will be sent to Korea. He is visiting under his parents roof at White Rock British Columbia prior to going overseas. Friends of Mr and Mrs Charles Brydon join in wishing him a safe journey and safe return home from Korea.

South visitors surprise Cole family on Sunday

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Coleman were surprised by visitors from the South on Sunday evening. Geo Coleman and two sons from Waskada and Fred Coleman from Souris, North Dakota, called on Mrs. H. Gamey and Mrs. Ray Buick.

Fouryearold Boy Seriously Injured In Cordwood Accident

Little Lee Fisher four year old son of Mr and Mrs Clem Fisher of the Tummel district was seriously hurt Saturday when he fell from a load of cordwood he was riding. A wagon wheel passed over him lacerating his scalp and causing shock and bruises. He was brought to Roblin hospital where his condition is reported as good.

Change Introduces New Roblin Co op Manager

Consumers' Co op announces John H. Kines will become Roblin Co operative Manager starting November 1. Kines has trained under former manager J B Arnott for two to three years and takes the post as Arnott departs for Brandon based cooperative work. Arnott and family depart with best wishes as Bruce joins Brandon as Field Man amid Roblin branch growth.

Back In The Services F O Robertson Re-enlists In R C A F

F O Donald Robertson of Tummel left Friday to re enlist in the R C A F. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 and mustered as Flying Officer. He will retain his rank and be stationed temporarily at Trenton, identified as the twin brother of Ronald Robertson our local MLA.

A brief cenotaph service on Saturday November 11 1950 begins 11th hour 11th day with hymn Oh God Our Help In Ages Past scripture lesson prayer last post two minutes silence reveille wreath placing and benediction followed by the national anthem. Time Change For HA Meetings Daily Start

The Hospital Aid met in the Board room at 3 p.m. Tuesday Nov 7 with President Mrs F McDuffe presiding. Mrs Ed Andres reported as Rablin delegate to the Winnipeg Hospital Association convention. Committees were appointed and meetings moved to start at 2 30 p.m. in winter. a collection will replace the draw.

Visit of Dauphin ladies to Roblin Chapter O E S

Mrs B Warkentine of Beausjour Man spent the week with Mr and Mrs T L Dillin. Twenty one Dauphin ladies braved the snow storm to visit Roblin Chapter O E S. A social lunch followed the meeting. The Lord s Supper will be administered in Tummer United church Sunday at 11 a m and in Bield at 1 3 pm.

Uncle Ezrys Hayloft Jamboree Set for Roblin

The Women’s Institute presents Uncle Ezry’s Hayloft Jamboree at Roblin school auditorium November 16 and 17. Local talent impersonates radio celebrities in an amateur contest with audience voting for ribbons and cash prizes. Open to all in town and surrounding areas with no age limit. Contact Mrs Don Robertson or Mary Willbanks for tryouts on November 13 and 14 at 7:30 pm. Mary Willbanks will direct and train participants. Page 7.

Community notices record a Legion sponsored dance on the 10th, CGIT Variety on Wed Nov 15, Remembrance Day services in Togo Hall on Saturday at 3 p.m., and various visits and parties. A 25th wedding anniversary was celebrated with a silver tray gift, and a student council amateur concert raised 189 for school equipment.

Merridale inspector attends local school gathering

Merridale inspector Ewanchuk visited Merridale school Friday. Visiting couples included Mr and Mrs Piniuk of Drop More and Mr and Mrs Shulhan at Mr and Mrs L wyak’s home Sunday. Local residents hosted visitors from Gilbert Plains and Cockerill households. The Ukr Orthodox church of St Peter and Paul held its annual meeting electing John Sorochuk president Peter Bugera secretary and Slawko Sedowich treasurer.
