Dieppe Raid Veteran Reflects on Tough Beach Assault
Donatien Vaillancourt recalls the Dieppe raid as delays and alarms altered tactics. He led a 19 man raiding party across 60 metres under machine gun fire, with losses and a six hour cliff standoff before capture. He spent three years in German camps and later returned to Dieppe for commemorations.
