Thanksgoing Day and Armistice Day will be observed Monday November 8. A special observance is requested for the actual Armistice Day with two minutes of silence at 14 o'clock Thursday morning November 11. Acting Prime Minister Rébb states Canadians are invited to mark the occasion in addition to the regular holiday.
The Great War Veterans Association hands over Armistice Day Poppy distribution to the Canadian Legion of the BLESS with over 800 branches taking part. Poppy emblems will be sold the day, memorial services held, war memorials decorated, and funds aid disabled veterans and dependents. Past campaigns raised about one million dollars.
A very pretty wedding was solemnized at Minitopas Anglican Church on Thursday at eleven o'clock. Miss Henderson of Minitonas united in wedlock with Mr. Orge Phillips of Roblin. Rev. J. Anderson officiated. The bride wore ivory crepe meteor dress and veil with orange blossom wreath, carrying American Beauty roses. She was given in marriage by her brother William Henderson. attended by her sister. The groom was supported by Leslie Fox of Roblin. After signing the register, Mendelssohn’s wedding march played as the couple left amid showers of rice.
The couple received many gifts from friends reflecting the esteem in which they are held. The groom gave the bridesmaid an amethyst bar pin and a gold Wald emar chain to the best man. After luncheon the couple left for Swan River to begin their journey.
Locals report Misses May Hornsby and Mab le Muller back from B C. Mr C Dillon of Churchbridge visited the Dillons. McFadden family returned from Winnipeg. Apple on display at the drug store from Kelowna Ontario stock. Department of Agriculture poultry killing demo scheduled Nov 8 at 2 pm in ICCF Hall. Manitoba Co-Operative Poultry Marketing Association annual meeting same day. Rebekah Lodge dance with Baine Kulberg orchestra ends at 2 am. prize waltz won by Miss Lauran McFadyen and Lorne Robertson.
The Deepdale community celebrated the dedication of a new church on Sunday October 25 with a 3 pm service led by Pactos presiding. Dr. A Doyle of the Manitoba Conference preached, Mrs David Mitchell sang, and Rev H T Smith delivered the evening sermon. A Friday hall supper and concert funded the building, which is nearly debt free thanks to Ladies Aid efforts. interior finishing awaits funds.
Local residents including Mr Fred Allen Mr James McEwen and Mr Alex Sinclair visited Winnipeg and Treherne last week. A newborn boy welcomed Sid and Mrs Charles on Friday morning. The Hallowe en Dance by Girl Guides drew a large crowd at Davis Hall. United Church plans anniversary services and a fish supper at the old Presbyterian church. An Agricultural Society auction, led by Mr Kaiser, attracted many bidders. Makaroff United Church Thanksgiving services announced with Rev. A E Weav ee preaching. Special offerings noted for church maintenance and extension.
Mrs Browning returned to Winnipeg Saturday after visiting her father Mr Embleton. Guests from Roblin, Tummel and Winnipeg shared in visits with local families last week and the Deepdale Ladies Aid thanked contributors for a concert and fowl supper fundraiser.
Miss Lena Carr and Lawrence Hesselgrave left for Okanagan Mission B C. Stokke and his son Albert returned from Rosetown after harvesting. Witwiski visited Winnipeg on business. his brother accompanied him home for a few days. Local youths attended a dance at Shortday Friday and enjoyed it. Mrs Carl Williams and family of Westminster B C left after visiting relatives in the district for a month. The funeral of Artie Elizabeth Whittaker age 43, eldest daughter of Mr A Sernshe, was held Wednesday at Bield with Rev Cousins of Dauphin conducting.

The Grand Narrows sale of work and dance on October 26 raised 203. Three Swine Club members Howard, Ve, and Orville Wilson won a Winnipeg trip. They will be joined by Mr. Handley. Wis Boys and Girls Club fair on October 26 faced bad roads but showed vegetable displays, cooking and canning, and strong poultry and live stock shows, with notable pig entries.

The Canadian Legion B E S L hosts Armistice Social for all veterans and their wives or sweet hearts at 8 pm on Thursday November 11 in the I O C F hall. Admission is 1.50 per couple.

The Manitoba Farm Loans Association demands payment of 4700.87 dollars plus 6 percent interest from December 1, 1996 on a mortgage executed October 12, 1920 by John Ernest Austin and John William Kelly of Roblin Manitoba. If unpaid within one month, the association may enter the lands at the stated property in Neepewa Land Titles District and sell by auction or private sale to satisfy the debt, then seek foreclosure under the Real Property Act.
