He notes flax prices at five to six dollars a bushel, mortgages paid off by flax harvests, steam threshing outfits, and bagging in flour sacks. Coach Sete and Mrs Alf Williams visited relatives in Winnipeg last week. Mr and Mrs Sam Arndt of Kelowna visited family in the area over two weeks. The Arndt and Zimmer families attended weddings and visited relatives in The Pas Russell Carlyle Roblin and Inglis. Cst Allen Bewcyk returned to Burnaby after visiting his parents. John Stolarchuk attended a 25th wedding anniversary dinner in Inglis for Al and Marie Angrin.

Nelson Cockerill and Simone Carriere celebrate 25 years of marriage after tying the knot at Sainte Claire Church on October 22 1952. They have six children and one grandchild. A social honoring their anniversary was held October 8 1977 at Sacred Heart Church Auditorium with a large crowd.
Members of Save the School Committee met at the Giles home to discuss funding for restoring the senodol building. Town of Roblin Council delegation sought details from Karuse the engineer on restoration costs and feasibility. The council agreed to a fifty fifty split of Karuse’s service up to 1000 dollars, with a quilt raffle extended to the last Saturday in November to raise funds, its display set at the Roblin Royal Bank.
Roblin Tiré TM Service held its Free Gas Draw for October on November 1. Bill Bencyk announced winners: Wm. Sawchuk of Benito received 50 gallons, Delmar Funk of Boggy Creek 25 gallons, and Jerry Kozak of Roblin 25 gallons.
The Wheat Board Advisory Committee met October 21, 1977 with all members and officials present, plus Hon. Otto Lang and staff. Lang discussed the International Wheat Agreement and a reserves system acceptable to producers and importers. By Oct 12 producers delivered 207.9 million bushels, exports stood at 173.9 million, and 1977 saw the largest tonnage for Churchill. Lower grade wheat may slow out of Manitoba until spring. protein grading studies will continue with periodic progress reports.
