A total of 304 head of livestock were handled at the Roblin Auction Mart on Thursday May 20. Included were 116 cattle 6 sows 6 boars 175 weanling and feeder pigs and 1 horse. 4 H calf sale May 27 in conjunction with the regular sale.
Canadians will receive census questionnaires between May 25 and 28 to be answered for every person in the household as of June 1 1971. A new fill in bubbles method speeds completion and allows direct computer tabulation at the Dominion Bureau of Statistics.
The Unemployment Insurance Commission uses microfilm viewers to quickly display payment histories on screen, cutting paperwork and wait times. A 100 foot microfilm reel holds about 150 000 payments. ten weekly paylists can be merged for faster access, and collaboration with welfare agencies aims to coordinate benefits and speed service.
The Canadian Wheat Board announced delivery quota raises for wheat and flaxseed effective May 24. Wheat blocks move to six bushels per quota acre in five districts Dauphin Kam sask Brandon Bredenburg Outlook while overall status shows 5 and 6 bushel divisions across multiple blocks.

William Young Arnott 71 died at Association hospital Flin Flon. Funeral held at Knox United Church Roblin with Rev. Earl McIntyre officiating. Interment Roblin and District Cemetery. Arnott born 1899 Kinross Scotland came to Canada 1903 settled Roblin. Survived by Florence wife, son Leonard, daughters Gail Oulette, Anne Carlson, Kathy, six grandchildren, siblings Andrew Robert Elizabeth Helen.
A team headed by Vic Sanderson surveyed Grade IV to VII in Intermountain School Division. The inspectors commended the teaching staff, noted a happy, engaging atmosphere, and praised the division as among Manitoba’s best, confirming prudent use of funds under the superintendent and board.

Ottawa will issue twenty six million stamps depicting a maple leaf in summer on June 16. The six cent stamp, 24 by 40 millimetres, is printed in five colour lithography by Ashton Potter Limited of Toronto. This is the second of four specials designed by Alma Dun of Galetta for Maple Leaf in Four Seasons. The design shows a fledgling maple plant sprouting from earth with two green leaves.
The Roblin Review announces extended Friday hours to 9:00 PM for improved local service. Residents within the Roblin trading area may visit the office after regular hours for assistance or submissions.
Susan Gadd urges households to reduce waste and take responsibility. Tips include refusing extra packaging, using returnable bottles, carrying a string bag, cutting disposable items, reusing containers, flattening recyclables, composting organic waste, cooking appropriate amounts, and avoiding grease or garbage in drains. Marlene Sonia Bilous of Roblin and Kenneth Gordon Campbell of Bethany share the John and Catherine Robbins graduate scholarship valued at 1,000. Brandon University Spring Convocation May 14 at Western Centennial Auditorium awarded degrees including Marlene Bilous for Bachelor of Arts and Earl William Ritchie for Bachelor of Education.
