Good Evening's Entertainment Promised For Friday

On Friday the 19th the Shell River Agricultural Society plans a concert luncheon and dance to honor a local member renowned for grain prizes at Brandon Provincial Fair. Ukrainian Choir and 19 piece orchestra will perform. Proceeds aid the upcoming Fair in a difficult year.

Local church confirms, dances, and concerts in Roblin area

Sunday May 21 Bishop of Brandon holds confirmation at 7 p.m. in the Anglican church. A dance with Evan geline Rebekah Lodge is set for May 24 at the 1.0.C.F. hall with music and lunch, admission 35 cents. Trail Ranger Groups challenge Dads to a softball game on school grounds at 7:30 p.m. A Roblin Band concert in the school auditorium on May 21 at 8:30 p.m. will feature a silver church collection. Mrs Foster showcases millinery in Nowasad's on May 19 with Derby Sailor and Turban styles priced $1.95 to $3.95. Rural Life Sunday observed May 21 with services at Tunnel Cromarty Roblin. A Local United Church concert at the 1.0.C.F. hall drew a small audience with Junior Orchestra, cornet solos, readings, and the Ladies Aid program. The Sardines play was produced by local artists along with the Young Women's Choir. Big concert May 26 at 8:15 p.m. by the drama league. Ohio's and Rhode Island Reds listed among exhibits. May 24 Young People's Society picnic to Assiniboine Valley hosted by Calder and Roblin United Churches with transportation and eats planning. Splendid Ukrainian Concert at Roblin by Zoria Club

The Ukrainian Dramatic Club Zoria gave its first Roblin appearance, presented by the Ukrainian Youth Association. The program featured Ukrainian folk songs, orchestral pieces, and dances dating to the twelfth century, praised for wholesome, childlike art and a call for harmony among Canadians of all origins. The writer laments modern artificial dancing and questions contemporary fashion in dress.

The annual Women's Institutes convention for District No 8 will be held in Turmel on Wednesday May 31. Morning session begins at 10 a.m. and the afternoon at 2 p.m. Hon. D. G. McKenzie, Minister of Agriculture, will speak in the evening. District 8 includes Fowsman, vonlea, Egremont, Lidstone, Minitonas, Tummell, Rochedale and Roblin. You are invited to attend.

Weekend trips to Vancouver and Winnipeg involve several residents including Mr Win Davis and Mr Vilin. Togo’s baseball team reorganizes for the season with Mr Can non Fraser as manager.
