Friday the 19th features a concert luncheon and dance by the Shell River Agricultural Society to honor a successful local member. The Ukrainian Choir and nineteen piece orchestra perform as proceeds support this year’s fair efforts in a difficult year.
Sunday services and events across Brandon area include a confirmation at the Anglican church at 7 p.m. A dance on May 22 is not charged at 1.0.0.7 hall by Evan geline Rebekah Lodge with music lunch and 35 cent admission. Trail Ranger Groups challenge dads to softball next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the achoo grounds. Roblin Band will stage a concert in the school auditorium Sunday May 21 at 8:30 p.m. with a silver church collection. Mrs Foster displays Millinery in Nowasad's store Friday afternoon May 19 featuring Derby Sailor Turbans and more priced 1.95 to 3.95. Rural Life Sunday observed by United Church across the Dominion on May 21 with services at Tunnel Cromarty Roblin. Local audience attended ICCF hall Saturday for Ladies Aid concert with junior orchestra cornet solos readings duets and a Young Women's Choir sextette. The Ukrainian Dramatic Club Zoria made its first Roblin appearance on a rain soaked Friday night. Ukrainian Youth Association aims to foster citizenship, preserve native literature, songs, and dances, and unite diverse Canadians. The program featured Ukrainian folk songs, orchestra pieces, and dances dating to the twelfth century, delighting a small but ardent audience. reflections on returning to ancestral dances and questions about modern dress and advertising add a thoughtful note.
The annual Women's Institutes convention for District No 8 will be held in Tummel on Wednesday May 31 with morning sessions starting at 10 and an afternoon session at 2. Hon D G McKenzie Minister of Agriculture will speak in the evening. District No 8 includes Wil's at Powsman Avonlea Egremont Lidstone Minitonas Tunnel Rochedale and Roblin. All are invited to attend.

J L Bowman reports from Ottawa on a busy Parliament week. Morning and Saturday sittings continue while committees tackle pension amendments milk probe redistribution and boundary disputes among British Columbia Saskatchewan and Quebec. The Railway Bill Indian Act amendment and Soldier Settlement Act changes pass as discussions swirl around debt policy and looming London Conference debates.
A community note promotes widespread vegetable gardening to boost vitality and health. It emphasizes vegetables as vital nutrients for blood bones and teeth, warning that omitting them weakens children and adults. Details on canning and storage will follow.
Lon Russell, longtime Roblin resident and former hotel keeper, died Sunday at 66 in Winnipeg General Hospital after cancer treatment. He ran a Kamsack hotel before moving to Roblin, where he helped community projects and was a prominent Orange Lodge member. Funeral held at United Church with Rev G E Phillips and Rev Mr Matchett. interment in Roblin Cemetery. He is survived by his second wife in Winnipeg and two daughters Mrs Alex Melnyk of Dryden and Mrs A Daw of The Pas.
Miss K Nestor left for Vancouver Saturday. Mr Davis with Vilin and Sures went to Winnipeg Monday. Mr and Mrs Charles Franklin with Mr and Mrs Gee went to Winnipeg Tuesday. Togo baseball team reorganized with Can non Fraser as manager. R J Rainbow of Regina will oversee All Saints church this summer. Stores close Wednesdays 12 30 pm until August 17. Debenture authorized for unemployment relief and sales of land approved. Various salaries, pension approval, and accounts listed. Council adjourned to June 2.
