Total borrowed 5 661 520 dollars with 1 208 090 for 576 new farm homes and more than 2 000 loans for barns and utility buildings. Livestock purchases reached 2 875 926 dollars, despite a dip from 1953. Alberta led with 25 percent of loans, Ontario 23 percent, Quebec 14.
