Vancouver Island Welcome for Lord Willingdon and a Gifted Totem Pole
The visit of Viscount Willingdon and Lady Willingdon to Vancouver Island on the Canadian Pacific steamer Princess Norah drew large local interest. Indians of the Nootka Band presented a 40 foot totem pole at Friendly Cove, with Napoleon and Chief Jack delivering speeches and Lord Willingdon accepting the gift for Rideau. The pole symbolic of regional heritage will be moved to a historic site after official celebrations.
