Debate on Budget Highlights Ontario MP's Middle Class Plea
The House discussed the Budget with Mr. MacDonnell of Muskoka urging protection for a middle class with incomes from 3000 to 7500. He warned of its possible decline and called for return to normal times with adjustments to money in circulation and low interest rates. Mr. Coldwell of CCF criticized the approach, noting Canada’s debt and that over half of Canadians earn too little to pay income tax, urging higher exemptions. The broadcast time for Report from Parliament Hill moved to Sundays at 6 p.m.
