Agricultural Society seeks community support as provincial grants end. A concert lunch eon and dance honor Mr L J Mitchell at Brandon Seed Grain Fair aims to fund premiums for a revived local fair. The event Friday May 18 features Donoghue's orchestra with Minister D G McKenzie expected.
Aly Jay Dimit spent a few days in town this week while Tom McLean Jr. left for Porcupine Plains on Tuesday. Various locals, including C. S. Burt of Kis sock Sask and R. F. Painter, visited Sunday. G. Ruff, Harry Wilson, and Sam Hampson shipped cattle to Winnipeg. Bell Boys Orchestra debuted in Davis hall on April 28. Also a quip about cats ends the note.
Arbor Day falls Monday May 8 with district farmers saving a quarter for May 13 and Sardines’ gift under Ladies Aid. Grand Narrows reports H A Wilson drove a cattle car to Winnipeg on Saturday. Thelma Wilson visited Mrs C McKnight last week. Ruth Burrell stayed with Mrs G Murray at Alva. Sowing bees near season end. L Maguire and Eddy visited Al Maguire at Togo last Sunday. Spring farm work has begun. Mrs C McKnight of Makarot renewed acquaintances here last week.
Miss Irene Chase returns from St Boniface hospital. Winnipeg visitor Miss Freda Drinkwater stays with Mrs A Clive. Mr R Main of Grandview visits sister Mrs T Bailes. Miss Margaret Stokke works for Mrs Petit Roblin. Miss Feanor Durandy of Gilbert Plains visits the district. Mr and Mrs S M Currey and family of Makaroff visit Bield. A house moved and wedding yells heard. Jack sends good luck. Miss Alice Cooper weekends at home in Shortdale with Miss Edna Mive. Mr and Mrs F H Chase. Miss Adellaaasund and Miss Winnie Lines. Messrs en Jaasund and David Chase motor to Dauphin Sunday.

It notes Ramsay MacDonald Harr iott Bennett and others traveling to Washington, anticipated currency and loan actions, pension changes, and government wage cuts as part of wartime economy.
Ame ing of the Lakeview Golf Club held Monday evening with season play arrangements. A drive for larger membership is underway and those intending to play are asked to try the game before May 15. Fees: Ladies 4.60, Gentlemen 5.00, Married Couples 5.00. J Statham appointed secretary.
A Manitoba legislature week featured a second reading on a Pine Falls tax bill for Manitoba Power Co and a split decision to delete sterilization sections from a mental disability bill. Other actions included highway act amendments, fire insurance coverage debate, and a two per cent wage tax proposal met with strong opposition. The session likely won't end before May 4.
The Tummel UFM will hold a dance in the Tummel hall on June 9. Watch for further announcements. Manitoba's small agricultural exhibitions face possible extinction after government cuts a $75,000 annual grant to these groups, while professional shows receive unchanged support. Souris Plaindealer notes the inconsistency in funding.
Mrs D Johnston hosted Deepdale friends at a recent gathering. A service was held at the school house last Sunday. The W I tea was a success thanks to many helpers. Mrs W Grassie has returned home after a long visit with her daughter in Eyre Sask. Mr Roy Kelly is recovering at Russell General Hospital after a severe illness. Miss Magmie Schnieder and Mrs J Collins leave for Dauphin for an appendicitis operation.
Local patrons are informed the Dauphin Theatre weekly programmes will be advertised in the Review. A crew club was organized for hunting of wild game and domestic fowl with a growing membership. Prospective members should give names to Secretary Mr Gleiser or H J Bowley. A special drive is set for May 28 with May 20 as deadline to join, and a meeting at the Review office on the 28th at 8 pm. A boys club was organized Monday with Masters Wm Crosa and Pete Holowatz as Captains. those wishing to join should hand in their names to them.
All dog licenses for the Village of Roblin must be paid to Secretary-Treasurer John Hull or W. Nixon on or before May 18 1983. After that date dogs found without licenses will be impounded by J Hill Secretary-Treasurer.
