Manitoba Budget Address 1994 Highlights Jobs and Tax Relief
Manitoba Finance Minister Eric Stefanson presents the 1994 budget after consultations across the province. The plan targets growth and jobs with tax incentives for transportation, manufacturing, mining, and small business, plus expanded education, health care funding, welfare to work, Pharmacare upgrades, and a seven year tax freeze to keep costs down. The budget allocates 1.85 billion for health care, 2.6 million more for home care, and programs to generate thousands of jobs through infrastructure, housing, and construction initiatives. Aimed at balanced finances by 1996/97, the plan relies on lottery proceeds and regional input from Russell consultations.
