Lively Winnipeg notes mix crime satire and policy jabs
A collage of regional quips and punditry covers a Winnipeg bank robbery sentencing, political barbs about Trudeau and Thatcher, university protests, RCMP bug hunts, and a Manitoba hatchery report. It riffs on names, places, and current events with a satirical tone.

Trace Minerals Now In Salt

Simple farm mineral mix advised for livestock
Mr Brown says a complete mineral mix is easy to formulate on the farm. The best blends use 100 lb trace mineralized salt with either 100 lb dicalcium phosphate or rock phosphate or bone meal. Free choice feeding is economical for most livestock classes. Trace-mineralized salt isn’t essential if minerals are already in the feed mix. Feed mills stock or plan to stock traces mineralized salt, costing $2.25 to $2.50 per hundredweight.

Wheatgrass Outperforms Brome in Manitoba Pastures
Intermediate wheatgrass shows yield advantages over brome when grown with alfalfa for hay or pasture in Manitoba. Barnabe notes 10 to 20 percent higher yields, easier feeding, quicker establishment, and resilience to grazing. It stays green late, adds soil fibre, and the Chief variety offers winter hardiness with good forage and seed yields.
