Parks Canada TB Capture Program Near Riding Mountain Park

Parks Canada continues TB capture efforts in the west end of Riding Mountain National Park focusing on elk and white tailed deer. In 2010 about 115 elk will be blood tested and released with radio collars, with some recaptured for culture tests to confirm TB. The core area hosts roughly 360 elk, down from 450 in 2009, as management aims to reduce density to limit transmission.
