Up to Tuesday March 4 Roblin and District contributed 890.67 to the Canadian Red Cross. The total includes Victory Loan canvassers commissions and grants to Roblin Village Shell River Hillsburg and RM areas. Donations may be left at Mitchells Drug Store or the Bank.
A large crowd attended the C G I T carnival at the rink Friday night despite severe weather. Judges awarded prizes across multiple age groups for comic and fancy categories, plus boys and girls races and skating couples. Proceeds split among the Red Cross, Overseas Parcel Committee, and a local relief fund.

Pte Gordon Dixon returning on weekend leave from Grand Narrows visits family in Winnipeg. Mrs Longbottom from Winnipeg visits her parents Mr and Mrs Chas Fillmore. A district number attends a Friday dance at Silver Wood and reports a good time. Mrs Wm Groves and children Gwennie and Kenneth board for the city where Kenneth will seek medical treatment.
Depth of community life shines through as Cpl John Ward returns home over the weekend. A series of visits and gatherings includes Mr and Mrs Roberts moving into a new home, Walter Ward visiting Dauphin for a whist drive bean supper and dance on Friday March 12. Visitors include Mrs Boyce and daughter Gladys, Mrs McCorquedale and Shel by with Mr and Mrs T Roberts. Pete Chomski visits his sister Mrs Dzikowski. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Lawrence Argent of Toronto on the birth of daughter Marlene Elsie.

Pastor McCallum conducted divine service on Tuesday evening at the church. A soldier's furlough is pending for a resident at home, while residents donate time to the Red Cross. Mrs Bert Cockerill has returned home after surgery, with many friends wishing her a full recovery. Coyotes and wolves threaten farms as rifle shells grow scarce, prompting calls for rationing to protect poultry and sheep during the war effort.
Cromarty Mro and Mrs J Fyfe were guests of Mr and Mrs J Limb. Sunday Miss Jean Tucker visited Miss Betty Jakeman. Mrs W Edwards and her daughters Mrs W F Thompson and Linda traveled to Winniper. Mrs F McDuffe and Mrs J Hay stayed with Mr and Mrs G A Cooper at Shortdale. Set C Robertson arrived Tuesday to visit his parents Mr and Mrs H Robertson.
Spr B Maguire spent the weekend with his wife and family. Pte M Maguire of Portage took a three day furlough at the parental home. Mr and Mrs John Dixon and Adel visited with Mr and Mrs L Maguire on Monday.
Miss Velma McGinnis spent the weekend with Mrs. Law Renee Ahaywaire while Mrs. O Olson visited her daughter. Mr Cecil Maguire hosted Pte Tom Donaldson on furlough at his home. Mr W Boyce of Sunnyslope called on Pte and Mrs B Maguire Monday.
Private Henry Dyck of Shortdale Manitoba, with Special Trade Company at the A165 Infantry Training Centre Shilo Camp, has qualified as a cook in the active army after passing tests before an Army Trade Test Board. He is married and enlisted last April at Winnipeg. Mr and Mrs Geo Ward to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the farm on Saturday March 20th with an afternoon reception.
