The Lutheran Ladies Aid of St Matthew’s Church met March 1 at Mrs A Becker’s home with twelve members and two guests. The group studied the thirteenth lesson of What Does The Bible Say on our Saviour in His Exhortation, presided by Mrs R Wilderman. A gown committee was chosen and carpet edging purchase discussed for the church, plus equipment, Alter Guild business, Lutheran Welfare Association renewal, and a Home and School letter read by E Mohr. Lunch followed.
The Roblin Free Methodist W M S met at Mrs H Donaldson's home on Friday March 2 with fourteen members present. They opened with a hymn and prayer, read Scripture, approved February minutes, and discussed benevolence donations tea towels and aprons.
Mr and Mrs William Craven invite friends to a Come and Go Tea at the Legion Hall Togo on Tuesday March 13 from 2 30 to 5 00 p m to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
The United Church Women of Knox met in the church basement on Tuesday February 27 for their second general meeting. Mrs A Newton led worship with assistance from Mrs M Oliphant and pianist Mrs Walter Ward. The president Mrs G McBain spoke on U C W functions and outlined business. Committees reported, and a budget was approved. The group decided to sponsor a Mental Health Education plan and discussed events, gifts, and logistics for future activities.
TOGU Mr and Mrs Sheldon Jones and family of Roblin visited with Mr and Mrs Herb Lee on Sunday. Mr Jim Bell of Regina spent the week end with his parents Mr and Mrs Ed Bell. Mr and Mrs James Gawley left on March 1 for a 2 month visit to Vancouver B C. Mrs E M Olson left on Wed nesday for a six week visit to Bur bank California USA. Mr Charlie Matvenko and Mrs Frank Topham motored to Saskatoon on Monday. Mr and Mrs Fred Austin and Mrs Robt Austin motored to Regina on Monday. Mr Ken Burt and daughter of Humboldt and Mr Claude Burt of Leroy Sask spent the week end visiting with Mrs C Burt and Miss May Painter. Mr Percy Harlow of Brandon visited in town on Saturday. A large crowd attended the Ernie Lindell Show which was held in the Elks Hall on Thursday March 1.
Funeral services were held in Roblin Manitoba for Barbara Jane Elliott age 85 with interment at Makaroff cemetery. Phillip Staub of Togo Manitoba died at 67 with services at Togo Community Hall and interment at Tazo cemetery. Elsie Dickie of Togo aged 83 and Barbara Dickie, wife of Joseph, noted among mourners. Names include Rev. Ross Williams, Rev. Henry Borgardt, Roblin Memorial Chapel, Wilson's Funeral Home, and Order of the Eastern Star. Charles Elliott, Hazel Gmindy, Eleanor Traub, and Elizabeth Parker among survivors.
