Togo mixed bonspiel concluded Saturday night with 37 entrants. F Hampson rink won Memorial Event. Keast Roblin second. Wilson third. Newton Roblin led Grand Aggregate. Apsales rink took Largest End prize. Radius of social events included a well attended curners’ dance. many locals and visitors noted.
Miss Audrey Davis spent the past weekend visiting Adele Dixon. High winds and snow have again blocked our roads.
Mrs Earl McIntyre suffered first and second degree burns after slipping on a hot stove Monday evening and was taken to Roblin Hospital. Birthday wishes go to Mrs L Jolliffe Sr visiting in Winnipeg for her 85th birthday on Saturday March 10. Heather McKenzie returned home after a two week visit with Mr and Mrs Livingstone of San Clara. St Patrick dance sponsorship note by Roblin Chamber of Commerce announces no costumes by popular request.
Frank Leith Skinner of Drepmore Manitoba receives baby bonus and old age pension monthly, then celebrates birth of his fourth child a girl aged a week. Born to his 40 year old wife, the new arrival joins two older daughters and a son, as the Skinner family expands. Skinner, honored by the United States Plant Propagators Society in Cleveland last December, is a longtime nursery operator born in Scotland who settled in Canada in 1895.
Tenders for the Greose Lake Consolidated School District van routes are due by 12 noon on Saturday March 31. Tenders must include bondsman license year of vehicle and daily salary. Each route lists assigned drivers and candidates. Also notes license and inspection requirements and includes a separate community notice for a dance and lodge event.
Manitoba co operative associations recorded 222,487 members for the year ending July 31 1955 amid a $98 159 689 business total down $14 million from 1954. Grain and Seed co operatives handled $48 990 887 of the $72 022 796 marketing volume. livestock co operatives moved about $11 million. consumer co operatives rose to $15.9 million. About 72 000 people are members of multiple co ops with 413 charters opened and 29 non commercial.
The M F U meeting is scheduled for March 15 at 8 o clock in the Legion Club rooms. Attendance details are not specified.
The Tummel W.A. met at Mrs. H. Trickett's home with eleven members present. Four new members joined this year and a valentine verse answered the roll call. The next gathering will be at Mrs. Gordon Jory's home on March 14. A new quilt frame will be set up and the association will answer the ro ca with a gardening themed hint or plant suggestion.
