Fat Stock Show and Sale Highlights at Fox Warren

Members from Tummel and Cromarty Calf Clubs excel at the Foxwarren Fat Stock Show on June 12 with Mary Lou Falloon crowned champion and Harold Woodhouse reserve. Prizes included Vern Furtney and Mary McCrea in judging and grooming, plus a second place in the stock pen of three. The sale averaged 25.46 cents per pound, with champions at 29.5 and 28.5 cents.

Hillsburg Rural Council Sets Budget and Rates for 1965

The Hillsburg council met in Roblin with Reeve John Perchaluk Jr. presiding. By-Law No. 408 sets 60 mills for municipal purposes plus school and a 10 percent business tax. ministerial approval requested. Electors' Roll revision on July 7 at 3 pm. Secretary treasurer to attend Winnipeg administration course. $50 approved. Accounts totaling $1611.58 approved for payment.

Horticultural Meeting at Nowosad Residence

Twenty five Roblin Horticultural Society members met on the Nowosad lawn for the June gathering. They finalized plans for the Peony Show and bake sale on July 3 and scheduled a North Lakes picnic for July 12. Committees were named and will notify members about time food and transport.

Legion Presents Life Memberships At Local Branch Meeting

Padre of the local Legion branch received a life membership, joining T Kelso and E E Stauffer as long-time members since 1931 with four living life members now including T A Cameron. Order of Royal Purple Installs New Officers

On Tuesday June 8 the Order of the Royal Purple installed new officers led by District Deputy S hr L Gray of Dauphin. Mary Perry was named Honored Royal Lady with Marjorie Kelso Immediate P HRL and others filling key posts. Members funded Easter Seal and arthritis society campaigns, donated to Mental Health and local groups, sponsored trophies, hosted a hockey night, and entertained seniors at a tea. Traveling apron raffle awarded to Mrs Louise Yakimishyn. activities resume in September for another busy year.

Roblin Band Performs City Tour Ahead of Centennial Parade

The Roblin Community Youth Band under Const. Mike McMahon and the Roblin Majorettes entertained shoppers in the Main and Second Ave area. They will participate in the Kamsack Centennial Parade on June 26 with McMahon leading. Band parents run a refreshment booth behind Heming's Jewellery each Saturday to aid fundraising.

By fall 1966 nine hundred Roblin and rural district customers will get dial telephones. Construction of the new office at Highway 5 and 83 starts January 1966. Roblin lines switch from manual to digital numbers with 7 digit codes. San Clara customers will also receive 7 digit numbers and calls within Roblin remain free.

Roblin Juveniles blank Inglis in league games

Roblin Juveniles defeated Inglis 12 0 on June 18 at Roblin with Gerald Brook as winning pitcher. A return match on June 20 at Assessippi Beach ended 6 0 for Roblin, Dick Bouvier the winning pitcher. Two league games remain in July. Pony League also beat Inglis 10 4 on June 20, with Herb Andres earning the win.
