Cromarty 4 H Beef Club Achievement Held June 8

Cromarty 4 H Beef Club held the achievement on Friday June 8 with Judge Mr. Rubin Warner and Mr. Jam Ward placing exhibitors calves. Champion Dale Simpson and reserve exhibitor Dale Simpson received awards. A liveweight guessing contest crowned Dale Simpson at 925 pounds. Brian Watson’s calf weighed 910 pounds. Calves were then sent to Foxwarren for the Fat Stock Show and Sale.

Roblin District Hospital Aids Meet in June Session

Roblin District Hospital Aid held a June meeting in the hoardoom with 11 members present. Mrs. Mel Bochey chaired as funds from a bazaar totaled 107 dollars 15 cents after expenses. Reports covered library petition signing and rhubarb donations. July August cart service was dispensed with.

Goose Lake School District Expands with Fifteenth Classroom

With 440 pupils enrolled, Goose Lake SD opens a fifteenth classroom this September and considers a non teaching principal. All staff vacancies are filled and insurance coverage is reviewed. a master policy lists elementary and intermediate buildings with specified contents values. Board approves payments for front age tax, field day fees, and various supplier and service bills at June meeting.

Forbes Retains Dauphin Seat In Provincial Battle

Unofficial counts at noon Tuesday show Forbes leading with 7 112 votes, Sigurdson 4 695, Zaplitny 4 507, Milner 1 1661. Final totals may shift runner-up status. Zaplitny’s third place marks a shift from past federal performance. Turnout around 81 5 percent with urban vote solid for Conservatives and Liberal gains in Ste Rose.

Lutheran Ladies Aid Meeting Held June 7th

The Ladies Aid of St Matthew s Lutheran Church met June 7th at Mrs P Borchardt s home with 11 members and 2 guests. Rev Borchardt led devotions and the study on justification. Mrs R Wilderman presided, minutes read, treasurer W Doering reported, rug price change noted. A bake sale was planned, sewing displayed, meeting closed with hymn and benediction, lunch served.

Skinner Family To Present New Trophy For Annual Horticulural Show

The Roblin Horticultural Society held its June meeting with twelve members and set final plans for the Peony Show. The Skinner family will present a Gladioli trophy in memory of William Skinner at the annual show. Specials are planned, and a Perma Mulch article by B McNeill was read. The next meeting is July 18 at 8 p.m. in the Intermediate School auditorium.

William Yourchek obituary services held in Roblin

Funeral services were held in the Roblin Ukrainian Catholic Church on Thursday June 14 at 10 a.m. for William Yourchek of Roblin Manitoba who died at Ste Rose Manitoba on Sunday June 10 1962 after a short illness. He was 84 years of age. Father S Evanochko officiated.

Miss Audrey van Drecht Honored At Bridal Shower

Miss Audrey van Drecht of Brandon Manitoba formerly of Makaroff a bride elect of June 23 was honored at a miscellaneous shower May 31 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J Davis in Makaroff. Guests included Lorraine Hilderman who pinned the corsage and seated Audrey, with pink and white decor and a bell centerpiece. Gifts were hidden around rooms and a bride’s book was viewed and signed. Audrey thanked her friends and invited them to visit on her Rivers Manitoba farm.

Mr. Harry Mann Urges Public Support For Mental Health

Winnipeg field representative for the Mental Health Association spoke at Knox United Church on June 15 detailing rehabilitation for current and discharged patients. He outlined CMA goals of public education, social action, legislation, and research with this year stressing research and presented the film Bitter Welcome showing dischargees facing society and work.

Inter-Provincial 4-H Public Speaking Contest at Yorkton

The third annual competition sponsored by CJGX Yorkton was held Saturday night June 9 at the Holiday Inn. Julie Hardish of Reston 4-H Clothing Club won the trophy and a transistor radio for Save Our Democratic Way of Living. Judy Fuxa from Wynyard District Saskatchewan Venn 4H Club took second with Conservat ion of our Franchise, also getting a transistor radio. Tied for third were Joan Leland Arrow River 4H Clothing Club Hamilta District speaking on The Mental Retorted Are Our Responsibility and Wayne Digby Assiniiboine 4-H Calf Club Roblin district speaking on Save Forests for the Future, each receiving transistor radios.
