A. J. T. argues war shifts raised schooling requirements in teaching and nursing were driven by supply and demand not virtue. wartime labor needs lowered Grade Twelve to allow entrants, leaving graduates with little guarantee of work while older teachers face dwindling prospects and shifting moral questions.

Mrs F Y Newton visits Winnipeg this week and Winneng and Dauphin visitors attend church and social events. The Tummel Red Cross serves tea and supper in Brydon's Store. Roblin Catholic Mission Hosts Perchaluk Yourchek Wedding

Stella Lorrene Yourchek and Russell Perchaluk wed at the Roblin Catholic Mission on June 13 1943 in a pink sheet and lace gown. Father Superior Shavell officiated. Attendants wore blue gowns with yellow gowns, flower girl Helene Lysy. Out of town guests included Mrs M Lysy Port Arthur, Mrs Walter S Yourchex Vancouver, and Mr and Mrs D Maskal Vancouver.

May Meeting Minutes of Shell River Council

Minutes from the June 2 1943 meeting in Reblin note full attendance with Feeve Clarke presiding. Items include authorizing sales of land SE 31-28-29 to Mike Mel enchenko for 156 dollars, SE 15-31-29 to Leo Christoff for 250, SE 17-26-29 to Wm Thompson for 160, and NE 26-27-38 to Dmytro Zibreski for 100 with various payment terms and interest. Also approved cooperation with the Wheat Acreage Reduction program and grants to the Canadian Institute for the Blind, and discussed salvage representation, pension adjustments, and accounts totaling 270.95 for Hospital and Relief and 0.50 for General. Council adjourned.

Skinner Honored in King's Birthday Honours

Frank L. Skinner of Manitoba Hardy Plant Nursery received the Member of the Order of the British Empire for valuable service in agriculture. He is internationally known as a horticulturist and plant breeder.

Many Friends Pay Last Respects To Memory of Mrs A Yeo

Mrs T A Yeo longtime Grandview Roblin resident dies June 10 after a stroke enroute to Brandon meeting. Born Annie May Yates in Arran Ontario 1883 she moved west in 1888 to Holland Manitoba then Grandview and Roblin. Survived by husband Thomas and seven children. funeral at Knox United Church with Evangeline Rebekah Lodge members attending.
