Amendments proposed to Manitoba Elections Bill
Government will propose changes to Bill 37 after hearing Manitobans across the province. House leader Dave Chomiak says amendments aim to strengthen democracy and ensure independence and transparency in the elections process. The proposals include independent registrar, consensus guidelines for public mailings, representation of independents on LAMC, removal of indexing provisions, and removal of the non election year advertising cap while retaining limits during election years.

Manitoba CTF denounces vote tax as Bill 37 amended
Dozens from across the spectrum urge government to axe the 2 million taxpayer funded vote tax scheme. CTF Manitoba Director Colin Craig says the inflation tied clause removal is positive but the party funding levy should be scrapped entirely. He criticizes attempts to muzzle opposition and calls for all party consent on government advertising. Voters can still sign the Axe The Vote Tax petition at taxpayer.com.
