The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life opens at Currey Park oval Friday at 7 p.m. The FLIPPR Trout Festival runs all weekend at East Goose with seminars demonstrations and a Saturday banquet and Sunday Silver Pig competition. A cairn unveiling is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the former Brooks Halfway House.
Arla Livingston led the first walkabout during Roblin's Safe Kids Week celebrations. The event highlighted pedestrian safety as injuries rank high for under 14s. Kids practiced crosswalk use, answered quiz questions, and everyone could win a bike. A Legion hotdog barbeque followed, with sponsorship from the PCC, Parkland RHA, EMS, the Recreation Commission, Roblin-Shell River Fire & Rescue, and the RCMP.
Kelcey Harasen opens Hidden Jewel Day Spa in Roblin after a major makeover of the former dental clinic above Floral and Gift Shop and Cassopuccinos. Harasen, from Wroxton, trained in esthetics in Edmonton, moved back with Ken Borkofsky to start a business favored by local youth. The spa offers hand and foot care, hair removal, tinting, facial rejuvenation, scrubs, body wraps, and massage.
