Former Roblinite Dies At Thompson In Underground Blast
A Thompson man died Sunday and two others were in serious condition after an underground explosion at the Inco mine in Thompson Manitoba Saturday. Dale Laliberte 27 of Thompson was killed while Sylvaloo Mekis 28 and William Gulka 39 were reportedly in serious condition in Thompson Hospital. The incident occurred about 2 45 am at the 2000 foot level as a drill is believed to have hit powder. All three were employed by Patrick Harrison Shaft Sinking Company of Toronto working at Inco s T 1 shaft.

Roblin Students Shine At Manitoba Track Meet
Eight Roblin Collegiate athletes competed in Winnipeg at the Manitoba Secondary School Athletic Association meet. Jack Caswell led with two firsts in heats and placed in the final 100 and 220 yard dashes, plus fourth and third in finals. Murray De La Mare, Mary McCrea, Hugh Harper, Ken Prokopitz, Lorne Dixon, and Ken Jakeman also earned placings and pins in various events. Transportation was arranged by Don Eshelby and Graham Mitchell. This marked the first year Roblin sent eight competitors, a worthwhile educational experience.

Minor injuries in two-car collision on Highway 83 north
A Saturday evening crash on Highway 83 north near the town limits left three people with minor injuries. Drivers Alex Yakomitsky and Calvin E Coleman and passenger Robert Becker were hospitalized. Yakomitsky was treated and released the same night, Coleman and Becker were discharged the next day. Both cars suffered extensive damage.
