Annual Meeting of Rebekah Lodge Districts in Roblin

The 53rd annual meeting of District No. 18A and 18B of the Rebekah Lodge of Manitoba was held in Roblin on May 15 1967 at the Masonic Temple. The afternoon session drew 88 members with several visitors including Eleanor Holloway Assembly President. New district officers were elected led by President Bernice Warner. A banquet followed by an evening session featured old fashion gowns and a tableau performance by Evangeline Lodge 41 with reports on past activities and a plan for next year’s meeting in Grandview.

Putting A Round At The Roblin Golf Course Tournament Notes

Thirty four golfers took part in the Two Ball Mixed Tournament at Roblin Golf and Country Club. Winners in First Flight were Mike Kapetz and Lawrence Andres. second went to Calvin Keast and Earl Chase. Second Flight winners were Pete Peteleski and Mil Misener with Johnny Mitchell and Liz Bruce taking second. Third Flight winners were Gordon Keast and Mabel Craig with Orest Ziolkoski and Edith Annette placing. Seventy five maple trees were purchased from Skinner's Nursery for club funds. A second two ball mixed foursome is planned for July 15 with sign ups at the club house. The Roblin Men's Spring Tournament is set for June 18 featuring the Saturn Motor Hotel trophy.

Veterans Week Proclaimed Across Canada Celebrations Planned

During June 11 to 17 a national Veterans Week marks Centenn ial year honors for men and women who served in war and peace. Veterans are urged to wear discharge buttons, a task many have not worn in over two decades, while tribute is paid to over 112,000 who died and rest in 10 countries worldwide.

Merridale Net Hosts Weekend Visitors and 4H Achievement Day

Mrs Shafransk i and family hosted visitors from Winnipeg Saskatoon and Winnnipeg over the weekend. Mr D Syko travels to Deer Lodge hospital for a check up. Merridale 4H Beef Club to hold Achievement Day at the D Syko farm Friday June 9 at 2 PM with shows by 4H members.

Rodlin Girls' Fastball Open Season in San Clara Victory

The Rodlin girls edged San Clara 17 to 11 in their season opener on June 4. A bake sale in Marshall Wells on June 3 raised funds for fastball equipment and thanked Mr Kozmennik for store use.

William John Maguire obituary notes service and survivors

Funeral service for William John Maguire 73, husband of Laura Mae, was held May 1 at 2 30 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church Roblin Manitoba with Rev Ronald Mattock officiating. Interment followed in Silverwood District Cemetery. Surviving: wife Laura Mae, four daughters Hazel McGinnis Laura Mickelson Elizabeth Hawryluk and Sadie Keast, four brothers Wesley Pency Lawrence and Cecil, and seventeen grandchildren.

Centennial Picnic Planned by Tummel Community

The Tummel Community plans a Centennial Picnic at Tummel School on Monday July 10. About 200 invitations were sent to former Tummelites living in Canada and the United States. No local invitations were issued, but all are invited via this notice. A committee meeting will be held soon with more program details.

Roblin man fined for suspended license and unauthorized vehicle use

Edward Martin of San Clara appeared at Roblin Police Court on Tuesday June 6 and was fined 100 dollars plus costs for driving with a suspended license and another 100 dollars plus costs for taking and driving a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.

Roblin Women’s Institute Elects District President

Mrs. Adam reports on the Roblin Russell District convention held at Foxwarren on May 17. Mrs. P Nowosad elected President, succeeding retiring Mrs J J Collins. Guests Gwen McArthur Pat McLaren performed a piano duet and Larry Hardy recited Browning at the meeting. Next meeting set for the third Thursday in June.

Successful Workshop Held at Rodlin Collegiate

A June workshop led by Mr. David Williams of Winnipeg taught Grade I dancing in the morning. The afternoon featured a Q and A period and dance guidance from teachers from San Clara Mak aroff and three town schools. Few high school students attended. organizers hope to avoid exam conflicts next time.

Eddie Merenuik Earns Diploma and Gold Medal at Brandon Graduation

Eddie Merenuik graduated in Brandon Manitoba on May 24 1967. He earned a Diploma in Combined Laboratory and X Ray Technology and the Gold Medal for highest marks in the course. He also received the Mayiska Bonar Award though the description here is incomplete.
