A CNIB warning advises voters and donors to verify canvassers credentials and to seek specifics about the charity. It urges asking which organization, what services, and what blind people benefit, citing CNIB offices in Winnipeg and Brandon for verification.
The CNIB announces a province wide fundraising drive from September 12 to October 16 in Manitoba. In United Way developed areas CNIB acts as a recipient agency and local CNIB volunteers will canvass communities asking for support.
The Canada Safety Council notes half of recreational drownings occurred with no plan to enter water and without life jackets. About 1200 deaths yearly could be prevented if lifesaving devices were worn. Laws require a Transport Canada approved device for each person aboard.
Jim Mitchell reports Roblin Kinsmen Club received a $2 000 grant from Winnipeg Kinsmen TV Bingo. In Rural Manitoba total grants reached $50 000 from project profits, aiding the artificial ice completion.

Billy Knott of Gilbert Plains won consolation with 121 for 18 holes.
Evelyn Ostrowski a Goose Lake High grade 10 student leads Roblin Intermountain division meet with strong marks for upcoming provincials in shot put javelin and high jump plus 4x400 relay. Terry Hughes tops junior boys in multiple events while Wayne Piwniak and Garnet Fraser post notable wins in hurdles and field events.

May 26 Co op 23 Goose Lake Honkers 2 and 9 2. Tradesmen 17 Gaters 8. Standings to May 26. May 30 Roblin Rockettes lost 20 17 to Asessippi Girls. Roblin Hoods beat Valley River Colts 18 5. Fella on the bus quips Friday the 13th luck.
