The Manitoba Youth Job Centre at 1158 2nd Ave N opens daily 9 to 5. Hire-A-Student Week ends as the Odd Job Squad earns praise. Tuesday the squad washed windows for 17 downtown businesses in two hours while Wednesday and Thursday activities Day Care and Hoe and Mon Day were cancelled due to no job orders.
Friday featured a Hot-Dog-O-Mania with Parkway Co-op and McGavins donating supplies. Saturday saw Student Lottery draws awarding three hours of free labor from the winning student. Squad members listed include Veran Thomas, Chris Dube, Bryce Evans, Andrew Chase, Amanda Nernberg, Kim Nernberg, Kristen Langan, Heather Langstaff, Faye Zimmer, Jen Suidak, Beverly Andrews, and Kanene Gregoire. Sylvia Onofriechuk of Winnipeg and George Bain with Doreen Bain and others visited Angela and Blair Buick in Winnipeg to spend the weekend. Cranbrook and Vancouver guests joined family of Alex and Lena Merviuk in spending time with relatives. A wedding at Killarney drew Hazel Arndt Rodney Arndt and Laura Watson, while Glenn Beghin, Dale Buick, and Art Skibinsky visited relatives in Manitoba and Ontario.
