Brucellosis Status Tracks Prairie Cattle Conditions

Agriculture Canada reports brucellosis in prairie herds remains low with 39 Manitoba 51 Saskatchewan and 41 Alberta quarantined. All three provinces are low incidence under Health of Animals, allowing interprovincial cattle movement without testing. Free-listed status requires two negative tests six months apart, at owner expense, with exemptions for certain cattle. Canada aims to eradicate brucellosis within five years.
