Silverwood Amid Cold Complaints and Local Happenings
In Silverwood a large number of residents report colds while several locals bought horses at a Roblin sale last Thursday. The United Church annual meeting was held Thursday evening January 7. Clarence Traub sustained a head injury when a board fell in a well, requiring medical treatment.

Community Hall Meeting and Masquerade Dance
The Deepdale community hall hosts its annual meeting on Tuesday January 19 at 8 p.m. followed by a free dance with lunch provided. The masquerade event last Friday drew about forty in costumes and prizes were awarded to Miss Hazel Powell.

Obituary of George Moir Fraser Farmer of Roblin
George Moir Fraser, a Roblin farmer and former Army lieutenant born in Ramaine Scotland, died after abdominal surgery and peritonitis in Dauphin Hospital. He had moved from Argentina five years earlier, led the local Canadian Legion branch, and was to be installed as president. Funeral at Roblin Anglican Church, interment at Tummel cemetery, pallbearers from the local B.E.S.1. He leaves a widow, two daughters and one son. his active community involvement will be greatly missed.

Mr and Mrs Alf Calver of Roblin visited Merridale friends while B Cockers traveled to Winnipeg with a fur consignment. Merridale welcomes Mr R J Penman of Gilbert Plains as the new school teacher. A community club meeting last week planned a series of social events this winter.
