Manitoba to raise fines and fees to fund justice services
Manitoba introduces higher fines and fees totaling about 1.7 million dollars and raises the small business corporation tax threshold from 320 000 to 360 000. The Justice Services Surcharge will add roughly 6.7 million annually from 2004 05, not applying to parking tickets. Attorney General Gord Mackintosh says these measures boost deterrence and better align costs with services for victims prosecutions and police.
