Mr and Mrs Bud McKeay of Dauphin spent the Christmas holidays in Merridale. Mrs Norah Cockerill, Mr and Mrs John Prior, Ralph Cockerill and Arthur returned from a car trip to Winnipeg.
The Tummel W A meeting, initially set for January 5, has been postponed to January 12 at 2 50 p m at the home of Mrs Don Robertson. Attending are holiday visitors Margaret and Shirley Fisher Nita Echart Doreen McFadyen Margaret Elizabeth and Fthel Ritchie Doris Robin Reba and Audrey Cameron.

Durel Staple, Bd Staple, and George Pavlenko nearly died when CO fumes from a motor used for welding filled a machine shop at Durel's farm on December 31. The shed door was open but air currents trapped the gas, leaving the men unconscious. Pavlenko staggered into the house for help, Bob Staple needed long artificial respiration, and all three have since recovered though lingering effects remain.
In observance of the World Week of Prayer joint services of United and Free Methodist congregations will be held next Monday and Tuesday. United Church service at 8 p.m. Monday January 9 and Free Methodist service at 8 p.m. Tuesday January 10 are open to all.
The Ladies of the WI held their annual Christmas party at the home of Cliford Ayer on December 21 with fifteen members and two visitors present. Officers and board were installed, plans made to serve hot soup and cocoa to school children after the New Year, and a social hour with gifts and lunch followed. The January meeting will be hosted by Mrs. J Stinson.
Mrs O Mickelson travels from Brandon with Gladys for a Portland Oregon holiday aboard a brief trip note. Mr and Mrs J Camp-1 are referenced as companions or hosts in the fragmentary entry.

At Merridale School on December 22 the Christmas tree and concert drew strong attendance despite bad weather. J H Poyser welcomed guests noting long standing community tradition from Bert Cockerill's era. Teacher Peter Bugera, former pupil, and the decorated school received praise as Mrs A J Macaulay and Mrs Bugera led acts including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
