A political critique attacks Mr. Deadman and his cross country forums arguing his questions mask self interest. It warns against commissions delaying action and highlights fears of socialism while defending individualism and opposition to state control by private corporations.
Local items report residents traveling to Winnipeg and Regina, visits to Kamsack, Dauphin, and Yorkton for events, and returning home. A telephone exchange position, bonspiel attendance, and a rural social dance are noted along with family visits, military separations, and community gifts.
Deepdale residents report visits and gatherings including a whist drive and dance at Community Hall on Friday the 26th. The Patriotic Society met at C. T. Argent’s home. Young people enjoyed a dance at Silver Wood last Friday. Desertions and travels include T Roberts and Corwena returning from Tauphin and Mrs S Phillips traveling to Kamsack for medical care. Church board members attended a meeting at Makaroff. Deepdale school children collected 5.52 for the Russian Relief fund. Roblin youths visited Mr and Mrs R Boyce for sleigh ride games and music with a dainty lunch.
Grand Narrows updates show Pte Gordon Dixon on leave at home. Mr and Mrs Harry Wilson spend the week in Winnipeg with Mrs Wilson attending a Co op Poultry Marketing Association delegate. MFA Ladies met at Mrs C Fillmore's on Feb 16. a quilt for Russian Relief Fund was begun.
Pte Chas Makaroff and others visited relatives during weekends. Pte Peter Beck and Pte Leslie Spears spent leaves at home. Dorothy Pound and Ada Rogers attended Grandview Folk School. Mrs Kerswell family mourns. Ladies Aid hosts winter Hostess Dinners raising funds. Community members attend church board meeting in Makaroff.
Pte Earl McGinnis spent Friday and Saturday with his parents. Pte Howard Radford took Uwoday leave at his home here. Alex Donaldson held the lucky raffle ticket for the auto robe. Mrs K Boyce of Makaroff visited her parents here. Arthur Sangster is home from Winnipeg and staying until after seeding. A big dance is planned in the hall on March 5 with lunch served.
Pte J Greive stationed at Vancouver plans furlough home in March. Miss Joan Belcher former Bield school teacher renews acquaintances. Free Methodist revival meetings draw strong local support. James P Cooper former Hudson Bay Co Moose Factory worker visits before joining Winnipeg air force. Busy Bees community group holds biweekly meetings including a quilting bee and a shower for Mrs Dube who recently lost her home to fire.
N J Kerswell Makaroff pioneer dies at 90 in Flin Flon Manitoba after long career in printing and banking Born in Devonport England October 15 1852. He homesteaded near Makaroff and helped build schools churches and homes. Survived by daughters J McInnis J Rodden and son W G Kerswell plus stepchildren and many grandchildren. Funeral held February 26 with burial at Makaroff.

Sewing bees organized by Mrs. Lietz to aid war effort. St Patrick tea planned. Dresden Plate raffle. March meeting at Mrs. Jones home. Members urged to support overseas correspondence and local appeals.
