The newly reorganized Robiin Fire Department held a February 14 meeting in the Village council chamber. Proposals will be published after Village Council approval. A fire drill highlighted the event with the engine traveling to the Community Hall, prompting calls for stricter traffic control and better cooperation from motorists.
Recipe offers Snow Top Rolls with yeast from The Cook's Corner. Ingredients include water sugar yeast sour cream or buttermilk eggs flour nuts mixed peel or candied cherries rum or almond extract and walnuts. Steps cover dissolving sugar activating yeast mixing with dry ingredients rising and baking in a 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
A rink skipped by Mrs J Goodbun and led by Mrs A Thom and Mrs J Nott scored an eight ender on a rink piloted by Mrs Wm Ford. The Ford rink included Mrs H Cross Mrs J Scott and Mrs D Ferguson. Goodbun's rink won narrowly.
A large audience attended the Manitoba Farmers Union gathering on Thursday evening February 17. After a brief business session Geo Holmes spoke and presented films including Forage Harvesting and Lose Housing. Ed Somers introduced Holmes and discussed silo types and effectiveness across lands.
On Thursday evening February 17 about thirty friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs J Stepbeger to surprise Mr. and Mrs Fred McDuffe who marked their 35th wedding anniversary. Prizes were awarded for cards with Laies high Mrs H Watson Ladies Low Mrs D Black Gent s high Don Black Gent s low Henry Watson. A dainty lunch followed as Stewart Simpson presented the couple with gifts from friends.
The February meeting of the United Church Ladies Aid was held February 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Mrs H R Mitchell’s home with 20 members and 4 visitors. They opened with the Lord's Prayer, heard a scripture, discussed a topic, and closed with a benediction. A $25 donation went to Fort QuAppelle Christian Training School and a quilt was donated to the Missionary Society. Next gathering will be at Mrs F Y Newton’s home with lunch coordinated by Mrs Ludwig, Mrs Martin, and Mrs McFayden.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Annie Redman of Deepdale Manitoba on Friday at 2 30 p m from Silverwood United Church. The long time Roblin district resident died in a Dauphin nursing home aged 88 years 9 months and 27 days. Six sons served as pallbearers Rev D H Hammond officiated Sneath Funeral Service Roblin Manitoba directed arrangements. Born Annie Ward in Ontario she married Fredrick Redman in 1890 and moved to Neepawa then Roblin district in 1905 where she resided until death. Her husband predeceased her. She is survived by six sons Wesley Deepdale Martin Togo Sask William Percy Lawrence and Cecil all in Roblin district and one sister Mrs William Pengully Handi Sask.
A correction notes Dr J Carlyle Parker officiated the funeral service for Mrs John Lindsay. The obituary previously misnamed the clergyman and the rectification clarifies the service conduct.
The Roblin Men's Bonspiel began Monday with 48 rinks entered from out of town and locally. Sixteen of the entries were from Roblin area clubs as play moved across nine sheets of ice, with Hartmier of Yorkton holding the only undefeated record early.
The Roblin Women’s Institute held its regular meeting on Thursday February 17 with fifteen members answering roll by naming an F W C officer. Reports from standing committees noted work done and plans for a Lady Curlers banquet.
Well Done Ladies from Roblin led by Mrs Misener and Mrs Robertson won 1st in the Fowler event and 2nd in the Beck event at the Yorkton Ladies Bonspiel where 41 rinks competed. Roblin men contest the ongoing Dropmore Bonspiel with hopes for similar success.
Around Town reports Mr John Bailey turned 83 on Thursday February 17. Miss M McBride of Dauphin visited her parents over the weekend. Mrs T H Ross of Archerwell Sask visited Mr and Mrs R W McBride. Miss E McBride of Duluth Minn returned home to nurse her ill father. Mrs S A Mackey of Brandon visited her father Mr J Currey in Roblin Hospital and then her parental home. J M Currey of the RCAF Whitehorse flew to Brandon to meet his wife and family and they drove to Roblin to visit his father in hospital.
The Roblin Sewing Susies met February 10 in the village school auditorium with 55 members. Mrs Braddell spoke on Make-up and Miss Murray showed slides. Jumpers and white blouses were chosen for Rally Day, next business meeting February 26 at 2 30 p.m. for 4H continuation.
