The Women's Institute will hold its March meeting at the home of Mrs. H. Hassler on March 15 at 2 00 pm Visitors are welcome. Miss Margaret Hay visited this week at the home of Miss Joyce Hassler.
Mrs Somers of Grandview visits her son and daughter in law the Somers family and W Livingstone group call on Roblin residents. Mrs Gardner in Roblin Hospital awaiting further treatment. Mr M Somers back home from hospital. Walter Doering and family recovering from illness. Heather McKenzie visits sister Mrs Livingstone for a week. Walter Uroanski travels to Fort Francis Ontario for cousin’s wedding. Hawrywine brothers and others cope with heavy snow.
The Zelena branch of the Manitoba Farmers Union drew a good crowd despite poor roads. Municipal crews opened routes in Timber and Zelena, with a new Shell River bridge seventy five feet long under construction. Miss Ruth Korman departed for unspecified duties or destination.
Mr and Mrs Bill Burnett left for Winnipeg to visit friends and relatives. Mr and Mrs Grant and Nel Irvine of Smite Sask are visiting with Mr and Mrs Stan Irvine and family. Mr and Mrs Grant, Mr and Mrs Stan Irvine, Neil and Gordon drove to Gilbert Plains to visit Mr and Mrs Ed Priest.
Makaro ff Mr. D Burns left Wednesday of last week for Edmonton. Miss Huda Reegers returned on Saturday after ten days at Robin. The Bonspiel began Monday with nineteen rinks in play, nine visiting rinks including one from Roblin and eight from Togo.
Eight rinks from Togo enter the Makaroff Spiel this week while William Hampson’s rink defended wins from the Roblin Spiel. The Lutheran Ladies' Aid hosted a Tea and Home Cooking Sale at Legion Hall. Mrs Norman Lee and Darlene visited Winnipeg. Mrs W R Kirton travels Regina. Jay Olson departed for London Ontario to join the RCA. Pete Melnyk’s rink won the Makaroff High School Spiel. A group gathered at Legion Hall for a social event.
The Roblin Ladies Bonspiel began Monday with twenty three rinks competing for prizes. Tuesday banquet noted by all. Semis set for Grand Challenge Dagg Dingle and Edwards Dietrich, M L C C Reyda Robertson and Lupichuk Large. Three rinks tied for Grand Aggregate after Wednesday noon. Next week to publish full winners list.
A brief local notice honors Mr and Mrs Fred Nabe on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. The community extends best wishes and nostalgia for lasting companionship and family milestones celebrated within the town.
Monday night square dancing resumed in Roblin after a one week postponement due to bad weather. About sixty dancers attended as Mr Park introduced two new dances The Waltz of the Bells and The Blackhawk Waltz. During intermission a business meeting discussed membership and a proposed club name with Roblin Hoe-Downers Roblin Rock n Roll Club or Roblin Whirlwinds as options. The decision to choose a name was postponed to next week to enable printing of membership cards and receipts. Members urged to obtain memberships from Mr Lebedovich and return for next Monday at 8 sharp.
The Makaroff High School conspiel on February 17 and 18 featured nine local rinks and four visiting rinks from Togo. Pete Melnyk's rink of Togo won the Grand Challenge, with Jack May, Togo, second and Ken Grundy, Cedric van Crecht third. Other events named winners and placers include Leonard Nabe, Ernie Davis, Albert Nabe, and Ted Ireland with Togo placements, plus Audrey Davis as First Rink Out and Jack May, Togo, as Biggest End. Acknowledgments were given to prize donors, meal volunteers, and Mrs. C Rogers for the fruit cake raffled, won by Mrs. R Wilson.

In loving memory of our dear son Nelson Roy Miller who went to be with the Lord two years ago on February 22. A bud the garden gave us a pure and lovely child. He bloomed for the Glory of the day the Heavenly Father took our Bud away. Ever remembered and sadly missed by Mother Father Brothers and sister.
