Officials announce a curfew keeping civilians off public streets from 9 30 p m until daybreak. only authorized personnel may be present during the hours of darkness with entry restricted to essential services.
A sensational dispatch claims Emperor Hirohito congratulated Hitler on a Canadian conquest advising a short war duration. It alleges plans for extermination of elderly and children, colonization by Axis families, and Italian aims for lebensraum with joint Nazi Italian colonies.
Instructions from the Army of Occupation declare Nazi stamps required for mail in Manitoba. Outgoing mail halted, cash replaced by Reichsmarks, and all banks seized. Doctors and nurses to report, German taught in schools, rationing ordered, and livestock and grain moved to Germany. Gauleiter Von Neurenberg warns treason penalties.
Police announce the seizure of hand grenades and explosive materials and the detention of a suspect in Prague, with court action forthcoming. Named individuals Marian Baranowski, Narsie Gajewski, and Wiktor Sikorski are listed among those involved.
