Roblin High School staged a fine presentation of George Eliot’s Silas Marner led by Principal Stratton. McCracken acted as Silas with Clarice Merrell missing due to a hospital visit. several students received praise for performances and scenery. The Roblin Elk Lodge presented a large red velvet stage curtain during the evening.
On Wednesday afternoon December 15 the home of Mr and Mrs Geo Mitchell saw the marriage of their eldest daughter Dorothy to Mr John Ritchie of Roblin. The ceremony, performed by Rev T L Fletcher with Rev B Smith assisting, followed by a modest supper and music, yielded many useful and valuable gifts for the couple.
Mrs Chisholi left last Thursday for a winter in Montreal. Mrs Jas McCorquodale of Deepdale visited last week renewing acquaintances. Mrs John Day and Master Anson Day of Shevlin attended the Mitchell Ritchie wedding. Mr and Mrs Fred McDuffe and family visited the Allingham home in Shevlin. Mr P Olson travelled to Dauphin to see his hospitalized brother Melvin. Mr H Scrimshaw returned from Dauphin hospital after medical treatment. Mr F Drinkwater came north for carpenter work and plans to winter south for warmth.

The church announces a Christmas program for Sunday December 26 with subjects including On the Threshold and Mandala. Activities cover children's addresses by John Meir, a reguar Christmas morning service at Roblin at 7 am, and Sunday School in Cromarty.
Special meetings for the remainder of the month are listed with times for Thursday 8 p.m. Public Meet Friday 8 p.m. Carol Singing Saturday morning service at 11 a.m. Christmas Sunday service at 3 p.m. Y P company meeting and Bible class 7 40 p.m. Christmas gathering. An invitation to attend and a Christ Jesus quote conclude the notice.
The St Pauls Church service next Sunday will include Christmas anise by the choir prayers readings and several familiar Christmas hymns including Come.
The Shell River Agricultural Society holds its annual meeting in the Roblin Fire Hall on Thursday December 30 at 2 p.m. Members are urged to attend as Roblin LOL plans a grand masquerade carnival and dance for New Year’s Eve with prizes for both ladies and gentlemen in fancy and comic costumes.
Mr and Mrs P Sloan rode the eastbound train on the 12th en route to Quebec to visit friends. The Boys and Girls Club held a Box Social on December 10 raising about $28. Mrs Burrell departed to visit daughter Mrs George Murray at Alva. A party of six boarded the train at Togo on the 168th bound for the UFM district convention at Dauphin led by Mrs Pitfield and Mr Handley with Mr Sangster, Mr R Peterson, W J Pearson and Miss Allen attending from Silverwood Local.
Fred Rutledge of Roblin thanks well wishers after his accident and asks for guidance on work options. He notes applying for a lighting plant position and a school caretaker job offered 8720.00 instead of 550.00, and seeks public opinion on how to proceed.
