Visitors Curling Exchange Draws Roblin Hosts

Thursday afternoon and evening at the curling rink featured friendly matches between Roblin and visiting rinks from Dauphin Gilbert Plains Grandview Russell Inglis Castleavery Togo Makaroff and others. Roblin won the lone match as visitors were hosted to luncheon supper and a smoker after the trials.

Knox United Church Women Elect Officers at December Meeting

The Women's Missionary Society of Knox United Church held its December meeting at Mrs. F. Y. Newton’s home. Officers elected for the year include Hon. President Mrs. A. T. Kines and President Mrs. H. Cross. A Christmas candle lighting service followed led by several members.

Radio Dials throughout Roblin and district set at 1230 for CKDM Dauphin opening. The 250 Watt station signs on at 7 p.m. with a one hour special for the occasion. Next day CKDM begins weekday full schedule under motto Community Service.

In last week’s notice the Staple Schaan wedding time was incorrect. The ceremony will be at 8:00 p.m. in the afternoon, not 2:30 p.m., as previously stated.

UMMEL R LT Arnot was a business visitor to Dauphin. The annual meeting on January 4 in Lumme hall at 7 60 p.m. Keith Arnott visited his mother in Dauphin before reporting to the Army in Winnipeg. The Ladies Aid meeting moved from January 1 to January 1 1, at Mrs F J Mchae's at 2 30. The Tummel Community Association held its annual meeting December 1 dth. Directors for 1951 include Wendell Lamb chair Steve Kerchuk Mrs Orville Kendrick Douglas Cameron Secretary Roy Mickelson Mrs Bus Brook Cathy Lamb. Hospital Aid Com Mrs Roy Mickelson Mrs Ray Buick Mrs Harry Tricket and Miss Cathy Lamb will attend all monthly board meetings in town.

Opening of Dropmore rink draws district crowds and dancers

Many from the district attended the opening of the new Dropmore rink and the dance Friday night and report a good time. Four rinks have entered from this district. The skips are William Craig, John Craig, Bill Cummings and Bill Keay. The Rochedale Ladies Club held their regular meeting.

Christmas Season Exchanges Reach Far Flung Homes

Messrs Briggs and Don Black with family visited relatives in Winnipeg. George Lrauv of Rhine Falls and Mrs B Crtraub’s son returned home by bus. Gordon Pound and Gail enjoyed a six week West Coast holiday. George Speers from Vancouver joined his daughter and son in law. Archie Harvey returned from Fort Churchill to spend Christmas with his mother.

Deepdale Christmas Activities And Travel Notes

Deepdale reports Chas McKenzie and Geo Gove left December 13 for Ballard mill and expect to be away through Christmas. Kenneth, Lyle McKenzie and Steve Dzikowsky visited a dentist in Kamsack Friday. The Deepdale Young People held a Christmas meeting December 15 with a color nativity and carols. The Littlest Camel film entertained children. Next meeting December 29. The Deepdale Swine Club held its first meeting December 15 with six members and three visitors. March 1951 is set for the next gathering.
