Roblin Club hires David Fairbairn as new figure skating instructor
Roblin and District Figure Skating Club engages David Fairbairn of Eriksdale as its figure skating instructor for the coming season. Born in Eriksdale, he trained from age eleven and earned senior amateur coach qualifications. In 1967 he won the Prairie Sectional Juvenile Championship and the Bronze Medal for Dancing at the Canadian Winter Games. He has coached at Bricksdale and Ashern, with four pupils passing preliminary Figures tests last season. The club expects strong membership growth due to his credentials.

The Roblin Horticultural Society reviews its 1970 71 year from Nov 1 to Oct 31 with ten regular meetings, an annual gathering, a 65 attendee potluck, and a Christmas party. A July family picnic at Assinippi Beach and a Manitoba convention in Brandon yielded reports. The annual show drew 700 entries. a North Beauty slide show drew 100 plus attendees. funds came from raffles and bake sales for a new arena. Four men charged under Wildlife Act in court
Four men faced charges from local Conservation Officers for carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Mike Derhak of Dauphin paid a $25 fine plus $4 costs. Roger Trudeau and Dennis Rioux of Winnipeg paid $10 fines plus $2 costs each. William D. Hildebrand of Winkler paid $20 and $4.50 in court costs.

Attendance Down At Blood Donor Clinic
The Roblin and District Red Cross Society reports low turnout at a blood donor clinic with 147 registered of an 800 target and 30 rejections leaving 183 donors short. The Memorial Hall was donated by Roblin Town. the Legion Ladies Auxiliary canvassed for donors and the Rebekah Lodge, nurses, and community volunteers provided lunch and support.
