N D P Candidate Warns Against Tory Farm Policy

N D P candidate Ray Taylor attacked Tory farm policy at a joint meeting sponsored by the Manitoba Farmers Union at Roblin Memorial Hall. Senior Citizens Housing Project Progress in Deepdale

The Committee on Senior Citizens Housing reports support from Cun wd and the community for new elderly accommodations. Deepdale residents plan to sell the Co i Hall and piano, donating proceeds plus existing cash to the Old Age Holloway project. M Chase Hurt At West Coast Port Alberni

Maynard Chase, employed in construction on Vancouver Island in Port Alberni, fell from a 25 foot beam Friday afternoon December 7 around four o clock. He suffered head injuries and a fractured wrist, remained unconscious but showed reaction to treatment, and was moved to Vancouver under a specialist. His mother Mrs Forrie Chase and his sisters were with him.

Care with Small Children and the Elderly Urged for Fire Safety

The Canadian Underwriters Association urges special care to protect very small children and the elderly from fire during the holidays. They advise never leaving children alone, ensuring two escape routes, keeping the fire department number handy, and evacuating everyone promptly with the adult in charge directing exit and not reentry.

Catholic Women's League Meeting Held December 4th

The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League held its regular meeting December 5 in the Parish Hall with twenty seven attendees. Officers and reports were reviewed, a $700 donation for the chimes tower cross was presented, and carolling groups plus charity purchases were organized for the Christmas concert.

Smoked Winnipeg Goldeye Gains North American Fame

The Goldeye from Lake Winnipeg and tributaries gains prestige as a delicacy. It is cured by freezing, brined to color, and slowly smoked over oak or hickory. Served with the head on to show teeth, the dish is showcased in Watkins Products catalogue with a photo from the St. Regis Hotel in Winnipeg. Reggis promotes the dish and invites friends to taste.

Adjudicators Named for Parkland Festival Events

Parkland Festival organizers announced no age limit in the beginners class for Piano Solo after reviewing the syllabus. Adjudicators confirmed include Mrs G Fisher for Piano, Mrs Rhonda Sanderson for Vocal Choirs and Solo Classes, and Mrs Helen Henderson for Folk Dancing and Spoken Poetry. Donations from local groups have been received and a donation list will be published later.
