A six year old, Alvin McKay, died when his head extended from a hayrack and was struck in a load accident near Assessippi. The incident occurred Friday afternoon as he rode home from school with Nate McKeay. The RCMP and coroner investigated and the funeral was held in Russell. The McKay family survives two brothers and two sisters.
Special Christmas services will be held at Tummel United Church on Sundays December 16 and 23. Messages for the season will be shared, with Christmas carols and music. The warm church offers fires and wood, inviting community attendance for comfort in body and warmth in soul.

Mrs G R Arnott of UNRRA Team No 215 writes Agnes Livingstone about postwar relief work in Germany. She describes planning for 9 000 Polish camp residents, dressmaking training, a bakery, church theatre and kindergarten buildings, and a child welfare clinic. Scouts groups, uniforms, and scarce materials are noted, along with visits by UNRRA officials and challenges in Poland repatriation and limb surgeries for those in need.
