Mr S T Bowers won reeve of the Municipality with a majority of 188. A W Nas trom was elected councilor for ward 3 with a majority. F Doering was elected councillor for Hillsburg with a majority. W Bennie was elected school trustee for Ward 3 Roblin school district with a majority of 26.
Rev Robert Harvey MA BD records baptismal service on the last Sunday each month and asks ministers to notify beforehand. Subjects for Sunday next include Tummel and Cromarty and a children's address Faithful Unto Death. Roblin and Oliver Cromwell's Cordial noted for children. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper to be observed at the close of the evening service.
Revival meetings outlined for Orange Hall with nightly sermons and talks led by officers including Staff Captain Habkirk. Programs cover prophecies, safety, youth meetings, and a lecture on world work, with special sessions by a divisional commander and a discussion on divine justice. Miss Cora Nault visits Winnipeg. Rev Neville and Rev Silverwood lead services in Togo. A successful poultry and seed grain fair raised funds with auctions and a Thanksgiving sale. The hall and church activities include concerts, box social, dancing, and youth sewing club prizes.
Makaro fy and Mrs Grundy spent the week end at Deepdale while Miss Oatway and Mr Lester McGinnis visited Roblin with friends. A whist drive and a Cinderella dance are planned in the hall on Friday and Saturday under the Farmers Union. Mrs H M Davis visited Roblin last week with Mr and Mrs C Sneddan, returning Saturday morning. The WI will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Flora Chase spent the past week in Dauphin. F Deering elected councillor for Ward 1. Smallpox vaccination concerns and quarantine lifting awaited. A South Mountain hunt for big game drew some locals. Merridale farmers haul grain via Bield shortcut. A Stokka threshes flax at Jansund’s. J Hay's sale at Shortdale drew many. Pocklington of Conferred Life Ins Co in Bield for new business. Senator Beaubin’s wife from St Jean, Manitoba visits Biel with sister Mrs M Currey.
The Roblin district’s sister spent the weekend with them while Mr. Wells, recently back from a brief illness, shows signs of improvement. A lingering cold and an attack of plucriss kept him home briefly, but he is out again as mild weather returns.
Local items report births and visits, trapping expedition starts, and a December community Christmas Tree event at the hall. Farmers win grain prizes at Togo seed grain and poultry show, with a brief note on a quilt raffle. Upcoming activities include a Boys and Girls Club concert and a New Year auction sale of Old Maids with prize draws and seasonal shopping calls.
Roblin locals report visits by Mrs S M Currey and family and Mrs Geo Spears. Evangeline Rebekah Lodge hosts a 500 Party on December 10 at LO OF Hall with 88 cents admission. The Hoblin Band Concert is December 12 in Assembly Hall with a postconcert dance. A benefit concert for the orphan home is planned December 19. The skating and curling rink opened midweek. fourteen rinks in play under Curling Club management with Mr Wm Cranwell as caretaker. Reminder to donate to Empty Stocking Fund at Mrs W J Westwood’s home.
