Negotiations between teachers and trustees of the In School Division opened on a proposed contract update. Teachers seek an average 6 percent raise totaling 36 825 plus changes in administration course allowance and fringe benefits while the board prepared a counter proposal after one meeting.
Sister Pearl Gervais of the Manitoba Teachers' Society says teachers are often not consulted on in service programs and division administrators set the topics. A workshop at Mc Master House in St James Assiniboine promoted cooperative planning among teachers trustees superintendents and the Department of Youth and Education. About sixty teachers attended with Society officials and department representatives.
Mark 69 club reports a successful badminton tournament with forty entrants from Roblin, Grandview, Gilber t, Yorkton and others. Winners include George Hall Benny Lewchuk and Gary Yayne with teams and doubles results listed. special thanks to Roblin Intermediate School Roblin Collegiate and Fr Peter Sta Sikh for equipment and support.
Minutes of a 1959 Roblin council meeting show By-law No 692 approved to join planning with Snell River and Shellmouth. Inter mountain School Division boundaries discussed. Building permits issued: Albert Kozak dwelling 13000, Leslie I. Spear car shed 93.68, Parkway Co-op shed 4000.

A Sunday afternoon shower at Sacred Heart Church honored Mrs Lorne Dixon formerly Diane Klemecki of Robins. Attending were her mother Mrs Olca Klemecki grandmothers Mrs John Klemecki and Mrs Nykolaishon and the groom's mother Mrs Gordon Dixon. Guests enjoyed bingo gifts were opened and a lunch followed before the couple resided in Winnipeg.
Roblin community gears up for centennial with a beard growing contest offering four classes and prizes, plus a Ski-Doo raffle to fund an indoor pool at the Roblin and District Community Centre. Entry costs total five dollars with a May 14, 1970, deadline.
Roblin area 4 H council met to organize a Bonspiel open to all members. Entry fee is 1.00 per curler with registrations due December 15 at the Ag office. Dinner and meal duties set with clubs supplying leaders and food. Officers elected include President J C Brook Vice President Robin Watson Treasurer Mary Oliphant and several executives and junior leaders.
Roblin Fire Department answered a 5 am alarm Friday for a blaze at the Galatiuk farm 17 miles south of Roblin on highway 83. One granary half filled with chop and a crusher burned. a second granary was scorched. Seven other granaries in a row were saved. Russell fire truck arrived ten minutes after Roblin.
The Roblin Chamber of Commerce unveils December activities including free kiddie shows each Saturday, the Carol Festival on December 12, and a Santa Claus parade sponsored by the Kinsmen. The Elks offer free power-motor toboggan rides for children up to Grade Four, and late night shopping runs December 19 to 23. The big draw on December 24 offers a 1000 pound steer as a ticketless prize for purchases made in December. Shop at home to support local promotion.
Second year students toured Parkland Bakery seeing ovens, miners, bun shaping machines, and slicer while receiving a donut. Community playschool planning progresses with a qualified teacher, awaiting education department guidance and extension support. Parents may call 937 2544 for info. A museum trip for third year aims to enrich studies with fundraising, targeting spring 1970 completion for 97 students. The Manitoba Teachers Society and Dept. of Education Curricula discuss revisions at McMaster House with a January meeting.
The Roblin Agricultural Society with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture Extension Service sponsors a welding course the week of February 9 to 13 from 9 00 am to 4 00 pm daily. A minimum of 10 students is required for a short course. if registrations are heavy evening classes will be offered for groups of 10 or more. Instructor is Mr Lyle Baker of Brandon. Farmers who attended previous years praised him. Also notes on wills and legal forms and bulletins "Laws of Interest to Women" and "Farm Arrangements in the Prairie Provinces" available at the office to farmers.
The Roblin congregation invites everyone to worship in their new church building located miles east of Roblin along Highway No. 3d. Sunday school begins at 10 am and the regular service at 10 43 am each Sunday.
Roblin Senior girls claim divisional title in juniors tournament while boys place second behind Morden. Senior squads face Russell and Gilbert Plains as juniors tour Dauphin, Birch River, and Grandview. Portage la Prairie events note strong Roblin teams and upcoming basketball season.
