Mr and Mrs Wm Aber move to town for the winter. In town council election G B Swain defeats Dr G P Baker. Davis Hall hosts a Friday night play dance lunch. Togo Agricultural Society meets Saturday Dec 1 at 8 p.m. Sophia Elizabeth Dot McLean wed at St Andrew Anglican Church Tege with Rev J Harrison Hill officiating. Guests include Irene Craig Misa Alice Airess and R J Rutledge. Wedding gifts and a large Tege turnout are noted. A shower and dance for J McLean and bride the following Friday feature Mrs Ota Topham and Mrs King. Dancing lasts late with gifts presented by F Painter.

Jack Hayes and Clifford Brandon plan to work in Mafeking for the winter. Mr and Mrs C Chapman hosted a pleasant evening with friends.

Mrs A Clive visited Tsabela Manitoba last week while B Finkbinder toured Meharry last Sunday. The Bield elevator supervisor Bredner left for home Friday night after a week in Bield. Two local ladies set out to visit a family, got lost, asked a farmer for a ride home. Old McDonald’s farm skit drew a crowd at the Community Hall last Thursday with the usual farmyard sounds and a missing special grade. The Girls Four Leaf Clover Club enjoyed an evening at Miss Margaret Stokke’s Friday, including a taffy pull by Miss E Whyte and Miss L McPhedran followed by dancing.

Mrs P Sloan and Mrs T Burrell stayed with Mrs G Marray at Togo. Mr and Mrs H Wilson visited with Mr and Mrs T A Dix on Sunday. Bazaar planned at Grand Narrows U P M Hall on Sunday December 2. Young Peoples Meeting drew a good crowd at the Hall last Saturday evening. Mrs Middleton and sons called on new neighbors. Mr and Mrs Fillmore and family visited. Mrs R Verbert and family visited Mrs Taster then returned home. Mr and Mrs T A Dixon and several relatives enjoyed a corn busking bee at Mr and Mrs Wallace’s Saturday.

DEEPDALE W and J Ward visited Brandon over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Jim McCorquindale returned after two years in the Okanagan. A shower at Mr and Mrs George Gardner's honored a bride prospect Eva Gardner. Gifts were many and varied. The Janeh was notably popular and gate crashing occurred.

Beef Grading Demonstration at Roblin Town School

A beef grading and cutting demonstration will be held in the Roblin town school auditorium on Saturday December 10 at 2 PM under the Agricultural Society and Women’s Institute. Dr R A McLoughry and W J McPherson will lecture on beef quality and show how to select and prepare cuts. A competition to identify cuts and prizes will be awarded. Illinois farmers test ethanol as motor fuel use

Illinois farmers converted surplus corn into ethyl alcohol and mixed it with gasoline. Six automobile types ran hill roads at varied speeds without knock or overheating. They claim a ten percent ethanol blend could burn off farm surplus in under two years if oil companies supported the effort.

Tribute to Pioneer Mrs Brooks Passes In Roblin

A long time Roblin pioneer Mrs J Brooks died July 13. She and her husband came from Ontario in 1882 to settle in the TummeI district and her homestead became a beacon on the Old Historic Trail. Neighbours relied on her as nurse and host, feeding travellers and tending the sick, earning a reputation for charity and kindness that touched the district and beyond. Her passing prompts remembrance of a life of service to friends and strangers along Manitoba’s early road.
