Edmonton rally draws 30 Jehovahs Witnesses from region

Thirty members from Roblin and district attended the Peace-Pursuing District Assembly in Edmonton Alberta, the largest Canadian prairie convention of its kind. Delegates came from New Brunswick, Mexico and Alaska to hear talks on living in peace, family duties, and sexual morality. The event featured 21 departments, 2,500 volunteers, and meals for attendees, with a new English Bible translation highlighted by speakers including Clayton Morrell of the Watch Tower Society.

Grand Narrows Seed Club Holds Eighth Meeting

The eighth meeting of the Grand Narrows Seed Club was held at Mr. Jack Radford's home on August 2. Eleven members and one visitor attended. Maynard Dix read the previous minutes. Murray Framingham received $5 from the club for the Lake Head trip on August 8. Ray Murray received $6 for the banner and other club projects. Billy Framingham adjourned the meeting.

Funeral for Rudolph Wenner Held in Roblin

Rudolph Wenner died in Roblin District Hospital on Tuesday August 16 after a short illness at age 82 percent. Funeral services were conducted Friday August 19 at Knox United Church Roblin with Rev Ross Williams officiating. Interment followed at Deer Park Cemetery Tunnel. Pallbearers included Chris Tummon Gordon Ballard Dave Ballard Albert Miler Ralph Ritchie and Earl Stauffer. Wenner was born in Norway and immigrated to Canada in 1907.

Funeral services for Mrs Oliver C Fish formerly Dora Gill of Trenton Ontario were held Tuesday August 16 at 2 from McKillop Funeral Chapel. She died August 13 1960 at age 84, surviving husband Oliver C Fish and ten children with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery.

Wilde man McBain wedding in Knox United Church Roblin

Margeret Joanne McBain and Robert Garfield Wildeman were married August 13 at Knox United Church Roblin Manitoba in a ceremony officiated by G Waddell of Portage la Prairie. Attendees included 106 relatives and friends with 125 at a reception. honeymoon at Clear Lake followed by resumption in Winnipeg. Out of town guests came from across Canada and the United States.

Frost in San Clara District Reports Weekend Freeze

On Saturday August 13 frost was severe enough to freeze beans vines and tomatoes in the San Clara District. May 1 a dead Mallard found on No 83 highway bore leg band 607-08789 handed by Indian Department of Conservation Willow Slough Indiana. Mr and Mrs Suprypa from Riverton Man visited Hersaks and fished at Jack Fish Lake where Doris Suprypa landed a 10 lb pickerel at 7:30 p.m qualifying her for a Master Angler Award in her first fishing attempt.
