FAC course organizer Jim McMillan says nine people attended the August session and has attracted much interest. A second course is planned after volleyball season ends, with further public notice expected.
RCMP seek an order to destroy two dogs after a Roblin resident was charged under the Animal Husbandry Act for loose dogs that dragged a small dog to the street and killed it. The animals have attacked other dogs and killed two rabbits in two weeks, with police citing risk to children. Sgt. Bob Brakefield said action aims to prevent further attacks.
Roblin's food bank plans a mid September reopening after a June closure president Rosemarie Yeo says major donations are needed to restart. Changes may include altered food kits and a bi monthly schedule while volunteers note 467 kits were distributed over 34 weeks last year with near constant need.
Roblin’s water supply was cut to allow Wiens Plumbing of Winkler to upgrade the town plant. Crews installed a temporary supply line feeding raw well water and chlorine is being added manually. The project is expected to finish next week.
The Rural Jobs Project a 500000 program to fund salaries for social assistance recipients faces cost concerns under two tier systems. Mayor Betty Nykyforak says the town could pay more than it saves depending on residency, with only 10 percent gain if workers are residents and a 1995 project deadline.
