Word received here that Guard Sergeant Glen Finch of a Canadian Anti Aircraft Battery in France was killed in action. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Finch and her four children, residing in the Togo district, formerly Roblin. Mrs. Finch is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas Lawrie of Roblin.
Miss A. Smith reports her nephew Arnold Savith was injured during a maneuver in England. He has a cast on his leg and is convalescing in a military hospital. Doctors say no bones were broken but the knee cartilage is damaged and recovery will take time. He sends cheer to Roblin friends.
Gordon Jory cut barley on Saturday August 10 1944 and delivered the first of the crop to the Pool elevator. The barley was government defective quality and not as heavy a yield as last year. Ukrainian Women’s Association of Roblin reports proceeds of 25 from lemonade sales four weeks ago at Hughes Motors garage. President Mrs J Warbee says funds bought hospital bedding for Red Cross.

Miss Helen Mildred Hackney wed Cpl. Douglas Gordon Boyd in a Tuesday ceremony at St. Pauls United Church Togo performed by Rev G A Hackney. The bride wore white sheer with veil and carried pink roses. her sister Millicent attended with mauve flowers. The groom, son of Mrs. Marshall Boyd of Regina, is an RCAF instrument maker at Weyburn.
Screen Preview notes Preston Sturgis top directing with The Miracle of Morgan's Creek at one theatre this Friday and Saturday. The comedy promises repeated viewings to catch every laugh as Tender Comrade plays Monday and Tuesday of next week, depicting a relatable wartime romance.

Miss Higginbotham of Fort William and Miss Ball of Winnipeg visited the Rusks. Ruby Jory, St Boniface nurse in training, spent holidays with her parents.
