Exhibitors and Judges School Held July 30
On July 30 1984 a successful exhibitors and judges school was held at the Drop-In Centre with twenty seven hort iculturalists participating. Visitors from Benito Bowsman Dauphin Inglis Russell Hartney and Roblin registered and took part. Phyllis Pierrepont and Lila Riley district directors of M H A led the event. Guest speaker Gertrude Jasper of Hartney demonstrated flower arranging with driftwood ribbons and live materials.

Four candidates contest Dauphin Swan River riding
Four candidates will contest the Dauphin Swan River federal riding in the forthcoming federal election on September 4, 1984. The Dauphin Herald presses are being cleaned as operations resume after a fire destroyed the main offices in the early hours of Wednesday August 1. Fire commissioner Jack Carey says arson caused about 400000 dollars in damage. An expert says the press is repairable and could run in about a month. Police investigate multiple fires believed to be arson on the same night with two suspects questioned and released.

District farmer takes legal action over beaver flood damage
R. M. of Hillsburg resident Bill Nykyforak has suffered thousands in crop losses since 1976 due to flooding from beaver dams on a natural creek. He has sought relief from the municipality after attempts to destroy dams trap beavers and trench to relieve the overflow failed.
